I've noticed that Carrion Bird x3 shows up in a lot of Martell and Lannister decks.

I'm wondering why that is, are they running these for claim soak or solely to make sure that a winter agenda isn't hitting them?

They are actually in a lot of decks, not just specific to the two houses you mention. They are just good, efficient cards. They help with season control (if needed) and with trait manipulation can pull off other shenanigans as well. Beyond that, they have stealth and can indeed be a good claim soak card if not needed for anything else.

Yep. They show up a lot because "1 gold for a military icon with stealth" is a great card - even if you never use the ability.
