Power Ranking Dual Faction Decks

By Penfold3, in CoC General Discussion

So what are the best and worst dual faction decks? Hastur/Agency was so dominant for so long, is it still that way after the errata?

If I had to pick the worst I'd say Miskatonic/Silver Twilight... but all the others... just not sure.

  • Hastur/Agency
  • Hastur/Cthulhu
  • Haster/Yog-Sothoth

I think that may be my top three.

My bottom would be -

  • Syndicate/Miskatonic
  • Syndicate/Silver Twilight
  • Miskatonic/Silver Twilight

Overall this is going to take some thought to flush out the top, except for the fact that something in the line of Agency/X as most likely top, with X most likely equaling Hastur...

I copied the bottom 3 above because I think 2 of them are not bottom 3 while 1 is most likely the rock bottom.

Syndicate/Miskatonic: Rock Bottom. Combining 2 factions with little WIllpower or Toughness and their power centers all about loyalty.

Syndicate/Silver Twilight: Think evasion/control and you get Event/Support from SY combined with Character bounce from ST. This tech can eat monster decks up so fast they have no time to hit their power Characters. This deck plays in the top 50% not the bottom.

Miskatonic/Silver Twilight: These 2 have a 4 card broken combo. I am not sure if that is enough to say it makes for a great dual faction deck but I would think there would be something more bottom 3 given all the options.

I have to agree with this. Syndicate and Miskatonic seem pretty bad to me, but Silver Twilight and Miskatonic are very underrated. Miskatonic has certain cards that are perfect for fueling the Silver Twilight mechanics.

Good to know. I really enjoy Miska/ST but I'm not getting stuff to go off as quickly or reliably as I'd like.

Which is a good thing in my opinion. The real problem is the stuff that does go off quickly and consistently.

Take this Mono Yog Mill deck for instance. It is a decent deck that explores an alternate win condition. It works fairly well, yet struggles against control decks such as Cthulhu or Agency like every other deck does.

It's not that the deck stinks, it is that amount of control options available simply over power it far too easily and consistently .

The **** game stagnates when there are obvious options for selection. This lesson is learned over and over again. Who didn't look at Sledge dogs and drool the first time they saw that card?

Obvious broken is obvious.

(I am doing a double post because multiquoting on this forum stinks)

I would agree for the most part. Let's explore why this is. The obvious answer is: Control.

Even poor ol' Yog has access to it to a limited degree. Combined with the heavy hitters of control strategy, and you have easily accessible consistency. The other factions are thus relegated to being considered "support" due to the obvious advantages of consistent board control.
