How many Treasures for a blank in RTL

By Dreepa, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

So here I sit, reading over the RTL rules once more, and suddenly it strikes me that I could have been playing something wrong: The amount of treasure given to the party on a blank....

In the RTL rule book on Pg. 17 it says:

Coins are added to the party treasury. Potions are selected by
the hero players as a group; for example, a party that
discovered two potions could choose one healing and one
vitality potion. Treasures are drawn from the listed treasure
deck as normal.

Potions and items discovered in chests are divided among the
heroes as the hero players wish. Heroes may immediately equip
any items they discover in chests, as usual.

As normal? RTL states, unless a rule is specifically overridden, the JitD rules apply.

(Copper Treasure: Each hero draws one card from the
copper treasure deck [...])

->That means each player draws a treasure for a blank???

So I ve been playing it wrong all the time?!?

It is specified in the Chest Loot table.

If you roll a blank you get 1 (level) treasure .

It does not anywhere say 'each hero'.

The wording is identical to the potions and an example is given of a party which finds two potions. If the rules were written so that you multipled the number by 4 then that party would get 8 potions, 4 healing and 4 vitality.

The phrase "Treasures are drawn from the listed treasure deck as normal" refers to how you draw, not how many you draw.

In DJitD the getting of X number of treasures (where X is the number of heroes) isn't written as a 'how to draw' intruction anyway, its written as a 'what are the contents of a chest' instruction. And in that case, rather than rolling 4 dice and consulting the chart, each hero instead draws one treasure card from the appropriate deck.

So relax, you've been doing it right. gran_risa.gif

Try to think about it:

3 levels per dungeon * 1 trasure per level * 4 dice per level / 6 sides per blank on a die = 2 trasures per dungeon.

If all the heroes got a treasure per dungeon, they would come out of the first dungeon with 8 treasures. What would be the point in going into another dungeon? With just one, they need 2 or 3 dungeons to get one decent treasure each and (if they luky) one more to get the best of the level. Otherwise they would do the first dungeon, forget about going into any others and focus on (easily) killing every leutenant. The OL would have no chance against them.

See below. This is from a list of answers which Makabriel looked after on the old forum:

How many treasures are given out per treasure roll?
Also, one treasure per blank rolled. Not per hero. Campaign mode is more about making the most of your resources than normal mode is.

Ok, so now I'm confused. In standard Descent, when the quest guide says 2 treasures in a chest, does every hero get 2, meaning 8 total treasures?

How would the appraisal skill work then? Do you decide who's getting the treasure, then draw?

Yes, that's how it works in standard Descent. RtL works the way ti does to limit the resources to the Heroes since its a longer game.

As for Appraiser, I don't have the skill around but the RtL reference sheet I have says:

Appraiser: When you draw 1 or more treasure cards, draw an extra then return 1 to the bottom of the deck

So I guess if you were getting two treasures from the chest, you'd draw three and keep two of them.
