Anyone recall the Luminous Reproach, the blade mcguffin from the Shades of Twilight adventure in DH Purge The Unclean?
I recently ran the adventure as the second mission in a DW campaign and even with a few tweaks to the enemies, the killteam naturally butchered all in their path. Hordes of warp beasts? Pah!
Anyway, I looked over the background and stats for the Luminous. It's pretty decent but I think loses out a little due to the hordes system in DW. My reasoning being that a DW marine or an ascended melee specialist will do at least the minimum amount of damage versus just about any daemon that can sanely be used in hordes. So all the Luminous, a weapon created by a legendary weaponsmith and blessed by Sebastian Thor himself, isn't noticeably more effective against slavering hordes of daemons than a "standard" master-crafted power sword. Also, the description of the weapon came across as visibly impressing the massed Astartes present.
EDIT: I forgot to mention the effects of the single reroll a turn versus daemonic targets. Even with that, I still think the weapon needed modification to represent its insane level of quality and blessed status.
Hence I present a few additions to the existing effects of the Luminous:
1. The blade can be wielded one-handed by mortals or Astartes.
2. On successful attacks against hordes with the Daemonic trait, double all hits.
3. Treat the weapon as a master-crafted relic.
4. Use the Astartes relic blade's chance of destroying other power weapons.
The latter rule has very much come up already, with Brother Iskar ruining the arm-housed power blade of the renegade "Enginseer" Molochan.
Any thoughts?
