And again, after the really helpful and interesting discussions in the Scenario 2 thread I was wondering what everybody's approach to the thrid scenario is. i tried it about four time so far, but still wasn't succesful.
I think the biggest problem that Solo players face is the Prisoner. Loosing one hero right from the start makes the whole scenario extremely difficult. I think the key is to steadily recruit an ally a turn. But resources are so scarce.
The next difficulty I had is the fact that thanks to three objects I tend to start with a staging area that has either a very high threat level (due to many locations) or is full with enemies...or both! Worse: Caught in the Web on one of the remaining two heroes even before I start playing. Happened to me twice already.
So far almost always my biggest problem was that I
1) Didn't have enough characters for questing, defending and attacking so that my threat level and wound counter seemed to increase almost exponantially.
2) Didn't have enough resources to put out allies.
The threat level is my biggest enemy, though. Since I start with 3 cards in the staging plus a fourth one and only two heroes (and maybe one ally) I cannot commit to questing and fighting....
My take to this at the moment is a Leadership / Spirit deck in hopes of plenty of resources and threat reduction! Didn't work out so far though...all too often I'm stuck with a handful of cards that I cannot play because the prisoner is the only resource source. I start to believe that this scenario might be actually easier with a single-sphere deck!
Please share your experiences if you have time and will. Always interesting to read how fellow solo-players fare. This weekend I'll finally be able to enjoy some multiplayer action, though!
Btw, I just always assumed that Treachery cards attached to the objective are played instantly with the starting set-up (two heroes, once prisoner and six handcards). Is that correct? I also didn't use Eleanor's special ability since there are no player actions in the setup phase.
Of course I still lost!
