Ok, I'm officially blown away

By carbonmatter, in Dust Tactics

Gotta chime in after my first game... this is the mini game I've been wanting and waiting for.

The game really sucks you in - it's eye candy, the polish is all over every component. It has a cool setting, and it plays so smooth. The rules are clean and elegant, and moving from the quick start rules to the full game is a breeze. The game was a blast, and surprising in how brutal the damage was. It's refreshing to get into a game and not be buried in rulebooks. It respects a gamers time - my biggest peeve of most games.

Painting these is going to be fun too. I don't know anything about the Dust universe yet, but I like what I see so far... I hope FFG continues to 'go big' with this game.

Production value - 10

Gameplay - 10

i couldnt agree more .

i was out of it yesterday due to sleep deprivation , so i only got in one game and demoed it to one kid .

the kid (12 or13ish i think ) was walking around and looked a little lost . there was a WH40K tourny going on , so we got pushing into the theatre , out of the way .

i called over to him and asked if he wanted to learn a new game ? he said ok , i had him play against another player and gave him a very few tips as the game went on , just to make sure he didnt get trounced .

as the game went on , it looked a little grim , he lost his walker about half way through , and the last couple turns it was his laser grenadiers vs a mickey and gunner squad .

but as i have said before , it can all turn on one good die roll . his heavy laser killed the walker , and he managed to outlast and finally out gun the gunners squad TO PULL OFF A WIN .

durring the short demo , we talked , he plays warhammer fantasy , mostly because of his friends it sounds like . HE had some serious legitimate gripes about WH , and plans to buy some dust figures to join in !

and i think i would go beyond the above staement that dust "respects a gamers time " and say that unlike so many games out there , minis games especialy , dust respects GAMERS .

DUST IS WARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DT got exactly the same review from me :)

Same, I love the game. I just hate waiting for new models lol.

The best minis game I've ever played.

Dust is awesome. We as the players need to promote it as much as we can though.

Thanks Dust....thanks a ton......for sucking me back into Flames of War.

Oh I still play Dust.

But I have everything.

And want even more ww2 goodness.....

Sadly I realize that millions of people did not suffer and perish just so that I have a context for my miniature gaming but still.....it is fascinating.

After the AT43 disaster im glad to see a game supported by FFG. Its a great play and has great minis.

Go Dust!

I pulled in yet another gamer last night, so I'm up to about a nice round 10 including all the punters from my Demo day. Most are using my kit and Ron's, but they're gaming and that's all I care about.
