in the description of the thermal lance it says that it uses advanced focusing to increase its range at the cost of power, but its entry in the weapons chart lists it with a range of a measly range of 10 meters verses the beastly 60 meters of the multi-melta. I was wondering if this was a misprint, or is it really a worse weapon than the inferno pistol?

I suspect that is a misprint. The Thermal Lance and Multi-melta are both heavy weapons, and the thermal lance indeed does significantly less damage. Perhaps they left off a zero? 100 m range for a Thermal Lance vs. 60 m range for a Multi-melta seems about right.

I sent in asking if the range was correct considering the description implies it should have a longer range and whats the point of having the Thermal Lance when every single aspect of the multi-melta is better and it even is semi-auto which makes up for the Accurate trait.

"The stats of the Thermal Lance are correct. However, I would suggest checking our on-line errata, as the multi-melta is not semi-auto."

So the multi-melta isnt semi-auto after all. But the Thermal Lance is still just an incredibad version of the multi-melta. With a 60m range, anything within 30m gives you a +10 bonus anyways which negates Accurate. So whats the point, really.
