Walker Expansion Sets

By Leutnant_Manfred, in Dust Tactics

What exactly are the box contents, and what (if anything) is needed to construct them? I know there are some differences in the models design (like the hot dog's fuel tank) and that, at least in the base game, the walker insignia is painted on, not decals. Yet from what I've seen of the walkers that come in the expansion box (especially the axis ones), they have different insignia still for each type of walker.

So overall, is there any glueing or decal application required? Or do they have several different pre-painted, pre-constructed walker turrets/bodies and only one set of legs?

You don't have to do anything except to plonk on the allied turret gun variation you want or plug in the 2 German guns you want to use. 1 expansion kit contains all current versions. The main game consists 2 of the original bots all pre built. In all cases the decals are already applied.

Unfortunately that doesn't really answer my question. You say there is no gluing or decal work required for the Medium Panzer/Assault Walker sets. Then how do they handle the ability to build all of the available vehicles, with the following differences?

- Hot Dog and Mickey have a fuel tank on the back of their turret. Pounder and Steel Rain do not.

- Mickey appears to have a golden star on the side of it's turret.

- Luther has a kraken on it's front, Lothar has "301" on it, and Ludwig has nothing (the insignia instead being on the 88's).

I already have the main game, but what I don't know is how the expansion sets handle being able to build all 3-to-4 walkers when they are shown as having different insignia (which from what I've seen is factory painted on) and in the case of the allies a different construction to the turret itself.

the allied walker comes with 4 cards (pounder , hotdog , iron rain , mickey ) 2 turrets , a pounder barrel , 1 .50 cal machine gun , and one body .

one turret is already assembled and set up as the iron rain , the other has a fuel tank on it , but there is no reason you cant use it for a pounder .

other than the extra turret , its the exact same walker that comes in the base set so you just choose a turret and put it on .

the german walker comes with 1 body , 1 MG44 , 3 stat cards (ludwig , luthor , lothar ) 2 8.8 cannons , 2 artillery racks , 1 close combat arm , and one 5CM flak cannon arm .

other than putting some extra stuff in the german set , its the exact same model as comes in the base set , so you just click the arms in place .

not sure about the decals , my stuff is in a locker at my FLGS , and i dont really care about the decals enough to worry about it , and i can always paint over it .

The axis expansion has a new decal on the front, the 88's have the same decal as the box sets but different colour, don't know about allied.

Allied walker body is the same as in base set except that the aerial socket is the opposite (correct?) way round.

The Steel Rain turret has a white star on the side and you can fit the lamp (included) to the front. The petard mortar is fixed onto the turret. The four guide holes for the .50 cal are present but unused.

The second turret is a hotdog turret (i.e. has the fuel tank) with a yellow star on the side. The 4 point mount for the .50 cal is fitted to to it and the .50 cal plugs in with a single peg. There is only one lamp between the two turrets so you will have to transfer it. A pounder barrel and a hotdog barrel are included in the set.

The box also includes the 4 cards for all the current variants and a "Loaded" token for the petard mortar reload ability.

Alright, thanks guys. Now that I have a better idea of what's inside the boxes I can plan accordingly when purchasing these walker sets in the future. I didn't want to purchase the one to start with the idea of interchanging parts and get a nasty surprise. From what I've heard, I think in the long run I'll definately want to buy multiple still. :P
