RtL abilities and effects vs non RtL

By Darkwerx, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Is it safe to assume that if something is stated in the RtL rule book about an ability or effect that is not stated in other rule books then that part of the definition is part of RtL.?

It states at theb eginning of the sections:

There are some new effects listed here, as well as changes to existing ones, so please take note.

Here is RtL's definition of Command

Command
A figure with Command adds +1 damage and +1 range to all attacks made by friendly figures within three spaces of it
(including itself, and ignoring line of sight) for each rank in Command it has. If there are multiple figures with Command within three spaces of a figure, the effects are cumulative.

Here is TOI's definition of Command

Command: A figure with Command adds 1 to the range and damage of all attacks made by friendly figures within 3 spaces.

So If I'm not playing RtL, Command wouldn't effect the figure with command nor is it cumulative?

It's never safe to 'assume' anything where combining Descent expansions is concerned...

That said, I'm nearly certain that the ORIGINAL JitD rules define Command as being identical to the RtL description - as in, it IS cumulative and does affect the source figure. Command is one thing that I don't think has changed. Most likely the Tomb of Ice rules just printed a shortened summary to save space.

Thank you for your response.

That's how I felt, it was argued that the TOI rule book was the latest publication on the rule so it was the most up to date.

Don't take the word of the ToI quick-ref, as it appears that they abbreviated the explainations. I can't remember off the top of my head, but I know there was another instance where an ability was only half-explained.

Just out of curiosity, is there a place to post fan-created content for the game? My brother is in the printing industry, and he designed an incredible quick-ref guide for use in RtL, and I was thinking it'd be great to be able to share it. (note that what I and my friends call "incredible" my brother calls a "quick-and-dirty draft", but whatever)

The BoardGameGeek website is a great resource to share stuff like that, Osaka. There are already quite a few reference sheets around.

The BoardGameGeek's file sections are a good place to share stuff. Take your pick between the Descent JitD and Road to Legend sections.

Edit: Doh, too slow!

2nd edit: If you find a hosting space somewhere, I'm sure people on the forum here would appreciate early access as well happy.gif - I know I would.
