Looking for a sniper rifle for a Throne Agent.

By Rationalinsanity, in Dark Heresy Gamemasters

I am running a Deathwatch campaign and one of the friendly NPCs with be an Inquisition Agent who previously served as a sharp shooter in the Imperial Guard. Crunch wise he is a Ascended Guardsman-Stormtrooper but I am looking for an apporiate weapon to give him. The long-las and the RT sniper rifle don't have the bit or distniction you'd except an elite operative to have yet on the other hand he is not a Vindicare (so not Exitus rifle) and Marine grade weapons are obviously off limits.

Is there a kind of sniper rifle (either in the roleplay crunch or something in Warhammer lore that I could stat up) that would be something in between an Exitus rifle and a long-las?

The Rifle I suggest would be the Nomad Hunting Instrument from Inquisitor's Handbook. Ammo also plays a part, off the cuff I suggest Lathe Hyper-Penetrators(body blowers) from the same book. I believe there are more ammo types out there but i cannot pull others out of my skull right now.

Otherwise take the Angellus Boltgun from IH and upgrade the damage to normal bolt damage, in the process you should make it a heavy weapon.
The fluff states it uses unmarked marine shells, which makes for interesting RP-ing

I think I will go with the Angelus but it is definitely getting a scope to offset its slightly limited range. And the fact that it uses Marine rounds might bring up some interesting dialogue; even more so if any of them play up the Astartes superiority element.

Marine: "Our sniper appears to be rather....short".

But what do you mean by upgrading to normal bolt damage? The Angelus does 2d10X while your typical boltgun only does 1d10+5 X (the one for the core Dark Heresy rulebook).

He is talking about normal damage for Astartes bolt rounds, not human bolt rounds.

Ah, right. Sorry, I'm not used to giving normal humans nice things. gui%C3%B1o.gif

I had a similar problem, so I gave the PC a custom built weapon that fires an assault cannon shell, small magazine, single shot, long range of about 200m, 2D10 damage, accurate, 4-5pts of PEN from memory and about 2m long.

Then RT supplement Into the Storm features a Sniper Rifle as well as some kinds of special ammunition (e.g. amputator rounds etc.).
