Follow Up FF Game Sugguestions?

By RustedCorpse, in Twilight Imperium 3rd Edition

I've really enjoyed my TI experience having gotten the game about a month ago and playing my fifth game this weekend. Since I have to order card covers for my TI game I figured why waste the packaging and am looking to grab another Fantasy Flight game at the same time. I was curious if anyone would mind suggesting and summarizing a follow up game. Generally anything with scale miniatures is impossible and something with a little less play time than TI would be best. I was looking at Battle Star, while a fan of the show though I have no idea what the game is like. Thanks in advance guys.

Oh, but there are just so many to choose from. ;)

If you want to stick with the space theme, then look into Cosmic Encounters or Ad Astra. I've never played either one, but I'm all about trying them the first chance I get.

Battlestar Galactica is a much shorter game with a really different feel and play style. It's cooperative except that some subset of the players are secretly Cylons and set on destroying humanity.

Runewars is an action based game, often dubbed TI3-lite, and has a fantasy back-drop. I've played it once so others will have to go into more detail. I strongly recommend it, though.

Descent and Arkham Horror are two others I enjoy, but Descent can be pretty long, too. Arkham Horror will possess you and you'll probably start wearing your hair in tentacles. It also has oodles of additional expansion opportunity. It's another co-op style game where everyone plays investigator characters seeking to prevent an ancient one (lower case intentional so as not to disturb slumber) from destroying the world. Very fun and can be quite challenging.

Hey Rusted, I would really suggest Citadels over Battlestar for a warm-up game. It's an excellent and inexpensive card game from Fantasy Flight with a Character selection mechanic that is similar to the Strategy phase of TI. Quite a brilliant game with a fair amount of gotchas!

@sinker: Thanks man, will look into. Have to pay for shipping to Korea anyway so maybe will just grab both in a bundle.
