Asylum Pack - how to determine if it is tournament legal?

By Konx, in CoC Rules Discussion

Hi!

Since I'm going to host regionals in Amsterdam (NL), I would like to know if there is a general rule to determine which APs are legal. The tournament is the 28th of May.

For example, is the (just released) Aspirations of Ascension tournament legal? I would say no: it is released basically in May, and I would expect to be legal starting from June (to give a complete 1 month period to the players to buy it).

Do you guys have any idea?

thanks

Konx

An excellent question and one that is not answered within the tournament guidelines. I know that at last year's Worlds, one of the Asylum packs was released the day before (at GenCon). It was ruled on the floor that it would not be legal.

But as for Regionals, there are no rules. Perhaps you should just create your own?

Maybe something like the pack must have been out for at least 1 week prior to the event?

I just ordered the new Asylum pack today and it usually takes 4-5 working days to arrive in the Netherlands.

As the tournament is more then a month away I presume everyone has enough time to require this new Asylum pack?

There was an AP that came out a week before Arkham Nights, and it was usable in that tournament. I assume there would be a similar rule for larger tournaments.

The general rules at FFG tournaments has always been available for a full week (seven days) before the tournament. Because you may have to deal with shipping if you live in a country that does not carry an LCG, I would add an additional week to that for shipping.

But as TO of a non-FFG run tournament you can create any policy you wish, just be very clear and state it with enough advance notice that every single player knows what the ruling is, and you should be good.

15 days before the tournament, it's fine. Players don't have to discover 250 cards ^^

Hi Konx,

Already decided if cards from the latest asylum pack may be used in the tournament? I am building a super deck which will lead me straight to victory but it does contains some cards of the latest asylum pack (asperations of ascension).
