If you're taking hits from multiple directions, that 30% auto-ignore has its advantages. Even better if a field counts as seperate protection from the armour's innate ability. IMHO they should as they are different things, albeit using similar rules.

I'm on the other side of the fence, I don't consider a suit of armour in a game that has stats for titan to be too strong for any attack %30 of the time without a field of some kind.
I also wouldn't consider 4+ levels of dodging entirely wasted if you got to terminator armour level without having to dodge then your GM is doing something wrong
Plus of course that's assuming you are always going to be in termy armour from that point.
Sure, some characters lean more towards artificer armour (+ a power field idealy) rather than termie armour as their ideal and that's all part of the personal choice.
