Map Maker

By Major Mishap, in Dust Tactics

Before I make one, has anybody developed a map maker for dust yet? The idea is to have jpg's of the tiles and terrain, so you can make and print your own maps for scenario's.

Not me, but I imagine it would be easy enough with GIMP or some such and a scanner. Do let us know what you come up with.

I haven't seen one but I'd be appreciative if you put one together.

I'll keep you posted, just need to borrow an A3 scanner from somewhere for the basic floor tiles.

I just made one using autoCAD that way I can draw lines out for LOS so see where I need to add cover. If you can get Vassal to work (not windows 7 compatible) you can use it as a map editor. I was thinking of making it a SketchUp file so anyone can use it.

Ok all done, I've now got a bucket load of jpegs if anybody wants them (PM your email), would anybody like to host them on their fansite/blog? I've made pics of all the boards and terrain, also the normal battlefields of combined 3x3 boards and pics for starting positions and objectives.

what about posting them as files at BGG ?

Yeah I looked at that but I couldn't see a way of making up a folder (am new to BGG) and there would by 25 pics scattered in there album.

Have now zipped as one file and sent them to BGG.

how bout this ..........................

up load them to YOUR gallery at BGG , go to the BGG homepage , the tab "my geekstuff" click on gallery , thats YOUR personal gallery

and post a forum post about it .

i will try to copy and make them into a PDF .

BGG is a good community resource , putting them on someones blog loses them amongst all the other blogs out there , so even the most popular personal blogs dont see as much coverage as a site like BGG , and it makes them especially accessable to new players that come in later . so i woud REALLLLLLLLY like to see them on BGG , even though i seldom use the map boards .

Hi, first I wanted to say thank you for taking the time to scan all those images. Now, me being totally computer illiterate, how do you add these jpegs into a word file and build a map? All I seem to be getting is one picture at a time. Sorry for being such a noob, hope to hear from you all soon.

Hi Cap, all you have to do is drag the boards from the folder onto a Word page and they should layer side by side. The small terrain squares, do the same and then right-click it, select "Text Wrapping" and the select "Bring to front". You can the drag them onto the boards. You can the double click an item to get the format picture bar up which again allows you to text erap and also rotate the image if you want.

Oh man that totally did the trick! Thanks for the help, and thank you once again for doing all the scan!

My pleasure, I also got Cyclone today and have uplaoded those maps to, might be a couple of day's till they show.
