More Newbie Descent Questions

By valoren, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

thanks in advance for helping with these questions!

1) Can Heroes take a rest turn in town?

2) Master Bane Spider has web and poison attacks. Do they happen at the same time, or does the OL pick which type of attack before the roll?

3) Are there any limits to what items Heroes can share if they use movement points to transfer items to an adjacent hero? Can they transfer money?

4) how do you determine when surge bonuses are stackable? I am going under the assumption that if there is a + sign in front of the ability it is stackable, and if no + sign it is not stackable.

1. FAQ v1.4 :

Q: Can a hero rest in town?
A: Yes.

2. Happen at the same time.

3. Everything but money

4. All abilitys stack

So, for example, on the Relic Card, Blade of Light

it lists:

1 surge: +1 damage

1 surge: pierce 10

If the player rolls two surges, they could have pierce 20 effect (pierce 10 stacked). The most armor I've seen so far is 6, but if something has an armor above 10, that may be an option they could do. Am I reading this correctly? I am wondering why some have +'s and some do not.

4. Any abilty which has levels will stack, as well as any amount of range and damage expressed as "+# Range" or "+# Damage". Knockback will not stack, on account of not having levels.

You better get used to incosistent use of symbols and terminology in Descent ;) Unfortunately the framework concept of the rules is a bit flawed, which leads to a quadrillion interpretations of things.

Regarding Master Bane Spiders, they do not have a "poison" and "web" attack. They have one attack which has both the poison and web abilities.

So you make one attack. If it hits with at least one damage rolled on the dice, then you place a web token on your target. You then factor in armor, and for every wound the hero takes, they get one poison token.

An attack can have multiple abilities as long as they are not mutually exclusive (an attack cannot be both breath and blast, for instance).

Which is a shame, since this would be insanely cool.

And related, will FFG please make a monster that uses the Bolt template for an attack? So I can use it for something other than a LOS ruler?
