Just Bought KIY, BGoTW, and Lurker...

By The7thFlame2, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Hi this is my first post and recently stumbled onto Arkham Horror and I have never experienced a game that was so much fun. My wife even enjoys the game!! WIN WIN!!

Anyways I was worried about the availability of the smaller expansions so I took the leap and found them to purchase.

Do you guys think I made a smart move or should I have waited for the reprints?? I am kinda hoping they don't change anything for KING, GOAT, and Lurker?

Also do we have any news on Dunwich? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Thanks.

The only small box expansion they are changing is Curse of the Dark Pharoah; all other reprints will be the same. If you go to the "Upcoming" section of this website and scroll down far enough, you'll eventually find that the reprint of Dunwich haven't even reached the printer's yet! I'd assume it'll be at least another four months before it makes it to the stores.

Thanks Solan.

So with regards to the reprints then I am not going to miss out on anything new in the smaller expansions?

I kinda am becoming a Arkham fanatic. I purchased half the mini's, the arkham dice, the three smaller expansions, the APP iphone, innsmouth, and the base game in 1 month.... o__0!!

I also am thinking about buying specialized gate tokens and seals for the game.... HELP I CANT STOP>>>>>> this game is making me crazy.

BUT SO FUN

*Wish they would make a $400 version of AH with all painted minis for the monsters and investigators, and one massive board that includes some of the other expansions.... I would order in a heartbeat.* ---like war of the rings.

YEAH! Welcome to the club! Ive been playing since the 80s (!) chaosium edition (complete with orange paperclips instead of skill sliders, and Ancient One monster tokens!) and Im still having fun and being surprised! So, imho, smart purchase.

You might wanna go easy breaking into all those components though. Finding your way around Arkham is best one spoon of goo at a time.

I'd have to agree.

I bought Lurker, KIY, Innsmouth, and Kingsport recently, along with the base toolkit software, and have been slowly adding elements in as I go along, mainly sticking with the base game, the toolkit to handle dice-rolling and location / gate cards, and the personal story cards for now. Once I'm done with some of the things I plan on doing with the base game, I'm going to work my way through KIY and Lurker to see which parts I want to incorporate into my regular game before doing much with the big box expansions.

Part of why I'm handling it this way is that I'm testing things in my solitaire play while also trying to make it easy to revert to the base game when I have to initiate some of my friends into playing. Better to break them in using the standard stuff rather than adding in additional complexities / difficulty like other towns, heralds, some of the nastier Ancient Ones in the expansions, gate bursts, etc.
