KUBLA!!!

By 9thimmortal, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

there was definitely no regional the first year. Was just a handful of playing period. I believe I spent most of the weekend playing Settlers.

Unless something goes wrong with my move, I'm pretty sure I'm going to go to Kubla even if I'm not playing GOT again

HARRRRRRRYYYYYY!!!! Great to see (hear) from you again! I hope all is well and we see you at Kubla! I always enjoyed our games!

I'll just bury this in this thread...

I will once again be running the Maester’s Challenge this year at Kublacon. This year, the challenge will be held only on Saturday, during the Regional Joust championship, and the Chosen Few Tournament.

During the course of the two events, while the prideful are competing for fame and glory, the learned will be demonstrating their mastery in valuable fields of knowledge. Each subject is assigned a task. Complete that task to forge your link, and complete your Maester’s chain. Only he, or she, who proves to be the wisest, and forge the longest chain, will be given the title of Grand Maester!

This year, novices will not be allowed to carry their chains until they become acolytes, and forge enough links to wear their chain proudly. Those who become Acolytes will enjoy the benefits of holding such a position of prestige. However, at the end of the day, only the Grand Maester will walk away with a custom made, one of a kind, Maester’s Challenge Playmat!

KUBLA!!!!!

Kingslaying? That's a new one! Thanks as always DeathJester... looking forward to it!

I am looking forward to the prize support here. Its going to be better than last year, and thats saying something!

I am bringing some extras in addition to the generic regionals prizes.

So...I need some help with the Cube for the cube draft assuming we decide to do one this year in our free time. They are always a blast, and we usually have too many people wanting to play (including the old SacTowners that usually come in). My cube will only handle 10 players I think, so if anyone else has another one maybe we can split into groups. ~Although mine is the best lengua.gif

Obviously this isn't part of the planned festivities, but we usually find time for one. Just FYI, it is a cube of about 600 cards I think, all 1X except the 5 plots that eveyrone gets to start (you can also draft plots as well). There is an equal # of cards from each house (except Martell, who had a dearth of strong CCG cards when going 1X), and quite a few neutrals. We shuffle them, and then give people 15 card 'packs' to draft from. After four packs, assuming 10 people, the cards are all drafted, and decks put together.

I need old player help since I got rid of a lot of multiples of classic cards before deciding to build the cube:

5X Summons

7X Alliance

7X Building Orders

3X Winter Storm

4X Wildfire

If people could bring their old black-bordered cards, that would rock! ~Especially everyone who said they would two years ago, but didn't gui%C3%B1o.gif

I'll see what I can bring. Many of those plots were also part of my cube draft a year ago, so I should already have them pulled.

Thanks Dobbs! That will help me out a ton...

If I am only planning on attending the Joust on Saturday, can I buy a Kublacon day pass on the Saturday? Or do you have to buy a full weekend pass?

Is there a cost to play in the tournament or just Kubla entry fee?

You can get a one day pass - look at the Kubla website. Not sure on the entry fee, I don't remember one, but there might be...

There was not an entry fee last year.

The day pass is expensive enough ;P

Kubla has a 1 day pass. The tourney itself is free.

The guys that run Kublacon go out of their way to make sure events are free, to the point where they comp TOs for prize support, etc. I think it's REALLY nice of them to do that.

Yeah, they are really cool about it. I just dropped 300 dollars on prize support for the weekend and Kubla is paying me back for it.

As for the tourneys: A 1 day kubla pass will be cheaper than a weekend pass. (Not by much). Kubla pass gets you into every event for free.

Rings, do you still want more black border cards? I may actually have those cards and actual original draft packs still in the plastic.

I don't need draft packs, and I think both Dobbs and Mathlete are SUPPOSED to bring enough of the plots. That being said, this was supposed to happen a couple of years ago too, and those peeps forgot, so if you have the room, throw them in please just to make sure!

Thanks, Jen.

If I manage to convince mathlete to give you a foot rub this year, can you find it in your heart to forgive me??

Should we make a bet with NYC for who gets more players again??

i still feel like "mierda" for last year's debacle (Luke and Dan) when i divulged our (NorCal) head count at Kubla on the boards and then those cheeky NYC kats were like "oh, we had the SAME number of attendees too"! whatever... i want that banner, signed, from last year sers. consider it a sign of y'alls honor and integrity! once again my bad guys... as punishment i'll spare you my presence at this year's Kubla, but come next year i'll be organizing 'ish with Luke and Johnny and becoming an ambassador of this most awesomeness game i've grown to love! i vote DAN supreme chancellor of aGoT! i wish you all happy hunting and look forward to what decks were built?! i hope Luke wins the whole sha-banga-bang (JOIST: the only thing that matters) NO repeats ;) ... if not Joe! we all know Johnny's winning overall :) haha!

Excuse me Matt, but being the Yearbook Adviser that I am (and constant Editor of poor grammar by my Yearbook Staff), but reading your reply to Jennifer, the "THOSE PEOPLE" is referring to both Greg and I. I never promised to bring cards in the past! lengua.gif However, I will bring some this year! happy.gif

AND.....

Johnny...you don't have to convince me.....there will be A LOT of rubbing going on! babeo.gif (It's so good to be back and be amongst adults!!!)

Adults? Well maybe. But who here cops to being a grown-up lengua.gif

Mathlete - the 'those people' were referring to people that had promised me cards last time - not you or Dobbs. However, as Mr. Kraus pointed out, and although I wasn't naming names...he and Chaos were the offenders. And then he beat me in the Top 4 of GenCon using my own advise on his deck...~let's just say I don't like him anymore and leave it at that... lengua.gif

Let the rubbing commence!

The second Maester Chapter pack should be in most stores this week (if not already today). Is it legal for Kubla?

Yes! Well, if it is indeed released, then yes. Any product released on or before May 20th will be legal in the events.

Beofre may 20th? or before may 17th.

May 20th. That puts it exactly one week before the first AGOT event at KublaCon. Of course, as long as it is released somewhere (because I know Dobbler is half a country away) by the 20th, it will be legal for all players...even if it hits stores a few days later in other parts.

To Dobbler: did you hear about its imminent release at Ice and Fire Days? I haven't heard anything.
