What do you think about The Emperor Protects?

By CruelGM, in Deathwatch Gamemasters

I'm just preparing to run the second adventure in two days and I'm "studying" the adventure, you know, learning by heart and taking notes.

Those who have GM'ed / played it, I would like to know what do you think of it. I know the problems about the maps and that but, it was funny for you? Any part of the adventure which was boring? Too dificult at some time (or too easy)? Too long?

Coment please,I only have two days before the game. And thanks on advance, of course

I found it too easy for players to miss important details in the second mission. They bypassed the connection between the Alpha Legion and the Apostate Magos they encountered in the first mission. Another issue was due to someone knowing Ciphers (Xenos Markings), they managed to only visit two of the four islands, missing Inquisitor Vincent (Bonus exp and a nice roleplaying opportunity) and the Tech-Priest with the Algorithm Purifier (Useful next mission).

Since I was using the third mission as a campaign finale, I had discussed beforehand with a player about the possibility of him being an Alpha Legion infiltrator. Great mission, lots of character development there.

Just one thing about the third mission. Devastators and Librarians can do insane amounts of damage. The recommended numbers and stats for the Obliterators and Fleshless Magos will get slaughtered before they can get a shot off with their shiny weapons.

Sorry I know it won't help if you are on the second mission already but I am part way through the first and loving it. Worth buying for the bad guy stats it contains if nothing else but also some great ideas to build into a bigger campaign.

That said, my players did make minced meat out of the dino on the divested hunt!

Only because they were 4-5 Vs 1... One of the players didn't tried to dodge a claw, and was down from 25 to 10 wounds in a single strike... And the dino ignores a whole total of 15 damage points from each attack, which means the bow is useless and the spear/swords can do something.

Remember: some groups need a trail of bread to reach the plotted points, so don't be shy about "forcing" their hand. My players, for example, totally forgot to go to see the Caele... and when I pointed that to them (after their "providential" encounter with someone sent by the Caele), they said they had forgot about him, since they had been travelling with the highest imperial authority in Lan's ship... XD

You will pay for this... with your PC´s life if necessary, but I assure you that I´ll have my revenge......buddy. I won´t tolerate treason in my group, our campaign events are restricted information. Beware the avenger GM, I´m watching all your movements.

No, just kidding. See you ;)
