Petition to universal to make At the Mountains of Madness

By Richard U. Pickman, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Internet petitions have never done anything.

At the Mountains of Madness may hopefully, someday be made. But not any time soon, I'm afraid. :(

I signed it. Not that internet petitions are terribly effective, but at least I did something, however slight, to help make a Lovecraft movie.

perhaps it does help, perhaps it doesnt.

but it doesnt hurt to let universal know what you think. if there are enough people signing the petition perhaps theyll see that the movie actually has a market.
sorry about the lack of capital letters etc. but this forum doesnt work well with my phone...

There are a million and one reason that a film does not go ahead. Maybe the lead actor the studio wanted isn't available anymore, maybe horror films just aren't "in" right now... There are many hundreds of films that are looked into and never get fully comissioned.

It will sit on a shelf ready to be plucked out again once the conditions are right.

I think they said it was too a high-budget movie (150 million bucks or something similar) to risk, and then the project died. Not so sure I'm particularly interested in a MoM movie, but I'd love to see a boardgame set there

you mean when the stars ar right...

Dang it! I was reading this thread and immediately wanted to make that joke! Well played, Richard U. Pickman.

Internet petitions factored into the return of Family Guy to TV, but like Futurama it was DVD sales that was the main driving force behind that. So if you really want to see this made go over to the HPL Society page and buy up all their DVDs then try to figure out how to let the studios know all their DVDs are getting bought.
