Out of the Loop

By Kennon, in CoC General Discussion

Ok, so here we go, my roughly annual post saying that I'm looking at gearing up to play a little more heavily and that I'm out of the loop on much of the current environment. Normally, I'm trying to get a feel for things pre-GenCon and hoping that the schedule works out so that I can play AGoT and Cthulhu, but this time around, we thankfully have LCG days at the FFG Event center. Now, I'm sure I'm going to be tied up with AGoT and the like too much to play in the CoC tournament as well, but I'd love to have a halfway passable deck put together for some pickup games.

That said, what's up with the sorts of decks and themes that people are seeing these days, particularly in light of the new Restricted list? As a huge Syndicate fan, is there anything in particular that I should pay attention to as I try to catch back up on cards? Is it halfway viable to play Silver Twilight yet?

My suspicion is that Silver Twilight (in combo) will get significant tournament play. Also, all these swell characters that come into play outside of the operations phase will be showing their heads.

Myself, I'll try to come up with a counter deck for the favorite ST strategies...

I assume that the ST combo decks are looking at some of the bouncing opportunities that many of the ST cards afford?

Does Syndicate have any interesting tricks up its sleeve other than the ol' Run n Gun sort of strategy with Panic and the like? Did all of the Dreamlands cycle Syndicate that mucked around with discarding and redrawing ever pan out?

The SY/ST deck that I have currently uses ST to bounce and SY to exhaust. I have a few kinks to iron out, but I'll post it for critique since I won't be able to play in regionals this year llorando.gif

St-yog-neutral-cthul or yog cthul. But, we'll see soon enough.

Make plans for Arkham Nights, foo!

I want a rematch!

I also want to see you drive all the way back home vowing never to show up again from such a crushing defeat. Throwing your cards in the dumpster in disgust. demonio.gif gui%C3%B1o.gif

So after a little more time under everyone's belt with the Restricted list, does it seem like it has really improved the environment? Has anyone been testing with the errata'ed reprints that we've seen spoiled yet?
