Sorry if this is a NOOB question, but Is it possible to move power between the two (House and Character) to either A). keep it off your house for others to benefit from during challenges, or B). to remove it from "Renown" characters to the house card in an attempt to save the power if the character is to be killed off?

"Yes." There are card effects that will move power for you. There are card effects for most things. Point being, you can only move power with a card effect, not because you simply want to.
