Shudde M'ell clarifications needed.

By Saikoro, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Ok so just got the dunwitch box. Theres this Shudde M'ell guy we didnt wanted to use since his mechanics seems a little blur. Looked on internet and FAQ but couldnt find anything on how EXACLTY this GOO works. So ill go ahead and tell you how i would play it from what i know of the mechanics.

So he got 7 rubble tokken that you place on the portal when theres a monster surge. You put the rubble token on the place, you move monsters+investigator in the streets. My question is: does this make the portal unclosable/unsealable since the place is considered destroyed. So what is intended with this GOO would be you cannot close gates with rubble tokens on it and it flood the board with monster from upcoming surges? Am I correct? If anyone could clarify how this bastard works it would be gladly appreciated!

Yeah you did that wrong.

Each rubble token has the back side (looks like ruble) and the front side (depicts a location in Arkham). You place the rubble tokens on his sheet face down. Whenever a monster surge occurs you draw one. The location depicted on the front side is then closed.

All of the locations on the rubble tokens are stable so they will not interfere with gates at all.

A thousands thanks!

And also, for future clarification (and to continue on Veet's thoughts):

If a location is closed while monsters and/or investigators are on that location, they are all immediately relocated to the streets. So if the library is rubbled while, say, Amanda Sharpe and a Hound of Tindalos are on that location, they both get relocated to the Miskatonic U. streets!

It should be noted, however, that if a gate is ever opened on a closed location, the gate replaces that location. So monsters can be there, and investigators can travel there. But if the gate closes and the location still closed, all monsters and investigators are relocated to the streets. These scenarios, however, are very unlikely, but could come up.

Aaaaahhhhh Shudde M'ell.

Played a game with this AO last week, loved it!

We were able to save the world from total destruction by sealing 6 gates!
But nothing more than a pile of rocks and dirt remain from Velma's Diner, the Library and the General store ...

I always love the suprise attacks of Shudde M'ell, especially when Sister Mary is just heading to the General store to buy the Tommy gun !!

Yeah he's one of my favorite AO's
