Does this relate to Black Industries or Green Ronin Publishing?

By Guest, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

I've noticed that this game/books is/are very similar to those of Black Industries & Green Ronin Publishing (they even have the same name!) but looking around this website things are very different. So are they related? Since I already have a few of the "Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay" books by the companies above, should I purchase this version? What are the differences of those of Fantasy Flight games etc?

Thank you for your help. I appreciate it (or will do when I see the replies)

Black Industries was responsible for WFRPG 1e and 2e. Green Ronin played a role in the release of 2e (I am not sure about 1e). FF games has released 3e. 3e is very different than 2e (from what I hear). Someone who is familiar with both systems will have to run you through all the details, as I am only familiar with 3e rules; however, the first difference that comes to mind right off the bat is the dice mechanics. 2e, from what I hear, used a percentile number based dice system. 3e uses a specialized set of symbolic dice (that do not have numbers on them, but rather cause certain results based on the symbols rolled). 3e also tends to use a lot of "bits" (cards, tokens, etc.) to make the game run more smoothly (though its primary focus is still on using mechanics to aid in the production of a narrative).

Flame Productions & Hogshead Press = WFRP 1e (no BI or Green Ronin involvement with the RP line at this point)

Black Industries and Green Ronin = WFRP 2e

FFG = WFRP 3e (with brief support for 2e prior to releasing the current edition)

WFRP 3rd Edition is the same world and associated intellectual property that has always been owned by Games Workshop. However, the mechanics/rules/what-have-you of 3rd edition is radically different from what existed before. Essentially you can't just pick up a 3rd edition supplement, open it up and fling it at a 2nd edition or 1st edition game and vice versa. The reaction to this change is one that varies from person to person. I have personally done something of a 180ยบ in my reaction to it simply because I like games of all kinds and there is room for this edition on my shelves alongside the previous editions.

Really!? Oh, I terribly sorry for spreading misinformation; my mistake. I could have sworn that BI has a role in releasing WFRP 1e, but I guess I was wrong.

Thanks every-one. I appreciate your help.
