Announcing the 2011 D.C. Regional Championship

By finitesquarewell, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

Geeky gentlemen,

The 2011 AGOT D.C. Regional Championship will be held on Saturday, May 7 at Labyrinth Games & Puzzles in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of our majestic city. We expect members of the DC, TN, NYC, and DE/PA metas to attend, and we're looking at a field of around 20 players. The tournament will be joust format; five rounds of Swiss with a cut to semi-finals. As the first AGOT Regional Championship tournament this year (~and likely the most competitive), we have a chance to influence the environment for the rest of the season; because of this, I'm collecting deck lists this year, which will be scanned and posted to my website that Sunday. (Deck lists can be filled out during the tournament so long as they're handed to me by the end of the Swiss.)

A comprehensive info sheet for the event can be found here:

Please let me know if you plan to attend so I can get a more accurate head count. Feel free to let others know you're attending by posting on the forums, but please email me privately so I can get a more accurate headcount -- I don't check the forums all that often.

Looking forward to seeing many of you there,

I will be attending. I'll try to coordinate with any other NYC players as well...really looking forward to slapping around some former meta-mates ;)

Probably won't be there, now. The new Restricted list has killed all interest in the Regional season. Nothing personal to the DC meta. Probably wouldn't play in any Regional if Claymont wasn't hosting, but I feel obligated to support the local meta. Hopefully see you guys in Claymont.

Only five days left -- the Queen of Dragons expansion and Gates of the Citadel chapter packs will indeed be legal. Expecting around 15-16 people based on the response I have so far.

Taking a look at the prize package that arrived in the mail just days ago, here's a spoiler: The uncut sheets are from the Oldtown expansion, and between the four of them they appear to have all 120 cards in the cycle -- so if you want a full set of spoilers for the Oldtown cycle, I'll be seeing you at Labyrinth Games in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of DC this Saturday. gui%C3%B1o.gif

~NYC will have 2 copies of the Oldtown cycle at its Regionals since Twn2dn will be bringing back all the DC loot...win or lose...

Is Twndn going to be the lone representative from NY?

Yeah, unfortunately it's just me this year. Fatmouse and another from NYC were originally planning...but when I told them I'd be headed down, they got scared and canceled.

We now have 5 confirmed from TN - Rob, Wade, Chris, Nate, and myself.

looks like seven from DC: me, corey, steve, dan #2, jack, byron, brian

Work Scheduled Arranged so I can be in DC - Check

Confirmed seat on plane - Check

Hotel Room Reserved - Check

What Deck am I going to play. No Clue

Looking forward to the game on Saturday. Come on you Deleware and NY folks get down here :)

And please, for those unlucky few (well, many, really) of us who are unable to attend, please, for the love of all that is holy and good and proper in the world, please do take the time to write up tourney reports! Many of them! And make them comprehensive, too! Writing them should feel like work! If you have fun writing them, you're not doing it right! Hell, if I was rich I'd pay you for it! That's how much I crave a nice tourney report.

Uh, I'm rambling. Sorry for that. I'm kinda excited for you all. Have fun! And remember those reports! No dawdling in school or at work until they're done!

I'd like to see some live phone tweeting/Facebooking/whatevering. Can't post on these forums very well from a danged phone (I've tried), but it'd be awesome to get live reports. They used to do live video reports for Star Wars CCG tournaments at times - those were quite epic. I think they might still, to be honest, just not sure if Ringwell is still runnin' 'em or not (haven't played in forever).

If other DC regionals participants want to add to the blog, be my guest (the more info the better). If forum users want to copy/paste content here so it's easier, go for it. Feel free to post/ask questions on the blog itself, so that I can respond in between rounds.

Looking forward to tomorrow!
