question about action phase during marshalling

By nagaviper, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

Hi I am new to this site but have been playing AGOT for a while.

Now I feel confused as such

at Marshalling phase, I spend 4gold to get Robb Stark

which is knelt to reduce the next Stark Amy free.

But before I do that opponent used event card nightmare which make my Robb cant use his ability.

I am wondering if the opponent had action by that time or he need wait till I used Robb ability then he can have his response time?

Thanks

Player action windows in this game work very simply:

  1. First Player takes an action (or passes).
  2. Next Player (player to the left) takes an action (or passes).
  3. Next Player takes an action (or passes).
  4. etc.

And you just keep going around in a circle until each player has passed consecutively.

Now, in the Marshaling phase, it looks exactly like that, but the Active Player, instead of being limited to "Any Phase" and "Marshaling" actions, can also play cards from his/her hand. Playing that card is considered an action like any other.

So, it's not like, as the active player, you have an "action phase" of your own in Marshaling that no one else can get in on. You just have more options on what sorts of actions you can take. Every other player at the table has an opportunity to take an action between every one of yours, though - same as any other Player Action Window in the game. You never actually get to take more than one action before your opponent(s) get the chance to take one. So your opponent is wide open to play that copy of Nightmares on Robb before you have a chance to use his ability (a player action).

It's easy to think you get consecutive actions as the Active Player in the Marshaling phase because your opponents technically do a lot of passing, but truth is that your opponents always get the chance to play between every action you take.
