Familiar in a dungeon, hero in town

By KojusMaximusPL, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hi

What happens when a hero who owns a familiar goes to town or got killed? I think familiars vanish until its owner reenters the dungeon. Am I right?

Another question with RtL expansion - can heros rest in town? Lets say 1 point is for moving into a glyph and then thay "land" at alchemics or market. Can they have a rest order?

I know first is a movemnt or attack action and THEN ready and choosing an order, but what if a character says: Im reading/resting and I move thru a glyph using fatigue... AFTER making my move. Can we have orders in Talamir?

When a hero goes to town, familiars remain in the dungeon and continue to function normally. The only cases I recall where the familiars abilities are restricted are Furr the Spirit Wolf, who cannot attack unless his owner is within a certain range, and the Shadow Soul, who cannot swap with the owner if the owner is in town (since familiars cannot go to town).

Your second question contains at least two false presumptions. Firstly, glyphs work completely differently in Road to Legend; you can't just use a glyph for 1 movement, you need to begin your turn on or adjacent to the glyph and spend the entire turn to go to town and do something. Secondly, with a Ready action, there is no requirement that you take the movement or attack before placing the order; the rules explicitly allow you to place the order at any point during your turn.

In vanilla, there is no problem resting in town, whether placing the order before or after you enter town. In the extended campaign, I don't know the details.

As Antistone said, moving to town through a glyph works differently in the Advanced Campaign than it used to in vanilla. What you describe is perfectly valid in vanilla, but "going to town" in the AC game is an action unto itself (technically called a "Restock" action if I'm not mistaken.) It's not possible to have a Rest Order while in town, unless someone with Leadership gave you one before you jumped through the glyph, maybe. Not sure if even that would work.

IF that would work, then the Rest order would function normally and the hero could hide from potential damage in town until it went off. If not, I can't think of any other way to get a Rest order on you and be in town when playing the AC game, so the question is moot.

thank you

One more thing: command or any other "ranged ability" (like the special ability preventing spawning within 5 spaces from the figure) - how do we calculate the range. Is it a circle around the figure (so no matter of line of sight or even wheter the dungeon exists there or not) or is it calculated wheter there is a legal movement of a 1x1 figure within the given range?

I hope you understand what I meant

You should probably check out the FAQ . It answers these questions as well as questions you probably didn't even know you had yet. :)

True... thank you :)
