Friendly Fire (Just sharing a game moment)

Sucks so much...

Last night while clearing some Ork Kommandos from the sewers below, we discovered some mutated orks. After a series of awareness, intelligence and medicae tests, we came to the conclusion that there was a similarity to genestealers. So, genestealer cult maybe. Turns out, deeper into the sewers, leading out of the city, we find a tyranid infestation. So we do what we do best and kill them.

The team is made up of four marines. Black Templar Assault Marine (Me), Space Wolf Rune Priest, Dark Angels Librarian, and a Black Shield Apothecary. Me being the leader, and the assault marine, I'm always in front, hacking things to bits, and being an example of true valor and courage. You know, assault marine stuff. Well, I charged a Warrior and bring it down to 1 wound in a single blow. I was rather disappointed. The Warrior strikes back, directing all of its attacks at me. I was hit once, which I was able to parry. But then comes my least favorite battle-brothers turn... The Dark Angel... My character (and just me) does not wish to stand beside a Dark Angel due to Crusade of the Ophidium Gulf. I believe that the Dark Angels opened fire upon the tiny Black Templar Strike Cruiser, wiping them out to preserve the secret of the Fallen. Anyway...

The Dark Angel attempts to use Smite on the Warrior, but ends up hitting me. Well, I wasn't too worried until I remembered that he was gonna push and use 6 D10 damage against the Warrior, in order to melt it, thus preventing me from taking its skull. My character collects the skulls of all the bosses I slay by myself.

After factoring in my Solo Mode stuff, where my toughness increases against psychic powers, my toughness bonus, and my armor, I was brought down from 22 wounds, to 4... This now gives me real reason to hate the Dark Angel (jokingly. I know it was only a mistake. But I'm always giving the librarians a hard time.)

Well, came my turn and a cut through the Warrior with ease, after making a toughness test to keep myself from reeling over in pain from the sudden shock of lightning. And when the fighting was over, for the moment, I spent two of my five fate points to regain 2 D5 wounds back, and then had our apothecary heal me up the best he could. Got myself back up to 12 wounds. I then realized that I should have used another fate point to bring myself up a couple more wounds before the apothecary healed me. That way I could have been considered 'lightly wounded', and he could have patched me up a bit better.

So I decide to call in to requisition two squads of PDF forces. Whatever could be mustered. Two reasons: A support unit and bate. Provide a little more firepower in times of need. But if things get too hot, and we need to escape, we could just leave them behind. It pains me to do so, but, us marines are way more valuable and can do so much more for the Imperium than two squads of what may be militia (the city is under heavy siege). When the squads finally arrive, we continue down the sewers, in pursuit of this alien threat. Killing it now before it has time to muster. Well, the GM has the four of us all pick a number between 1 and 20. He then rolled 2 D10's and whoever was the closest was attacked by a genestealer. Apparently we all failed awareness checks. So I was attacked and I couldn't react quickly enough. I was then brought down to -5 wounds.

Rolled another toughness test to keep myself from falling in pain... Succeeded. I then pursued to grab the genestealer by its right arms, and swing it into the wall. Then I grabbed its head and bashed it into the wall over and over again until the beast quit squirming and flaying about.

But now I come to this... I am like... 2 wounds away from dying. Should I continue the pursuit? Or should I fall back and order the PDF forces to close up the sewers, hopefully blocking the tyranid menace for long enough to get myself back on my feet and possibly reinforcements. (My original plan just to flush every toilet in the city at once, hopefully flooding the ork kommandos out of the sewers. lengua.gif ) And even then, what will I do? I'm in no position to fight!

with samples, your apoth should be able to create a target virous against the stealer horde and the orks, which can then be pumped down the sewer system maybe?

if the city is to be evacueted, pumping loads of promethium in the sewers and lure the orks in the town then blow them both up?

I would try to lure the orks into the stealers probably too...

He's done that with the orks. Gathering samples to make a poison. But, we are not allowed to destroy the city. Even if we could, I would look for an alternative.

Our Dark Angel is suggesting a virus bomb... sorpresa.gif

First of all, next time you should pick a number from 1 to 20 for a roll with 2d10 you pick a 1. ;)

Seriously, you could call in the Chapter Demeanour to heal yourself. With improvement you can heal 2d5. Add the Apos treatment and you are critically wounded but possibly still in the fight. Use drugs to suppress the effects of injury and on it goes.

Alex

Fate points heal a 1d10 in DW (improved over the 1d5 from DH and RT). The Apoth's heal probly should have been in the lightly wounded range, since one of the items they have lets you triple threshold for checking to see if your light wounded vs heavy wounded.

Putting the pursuit on hold to go get some healing is hardly heroic man. Press on and get the medic to keep healing you at every oppo :)

I jump packed outta a storm raven the other week to chainsword the crap outta a remorra :)

One of my players went full auto on a close combat with the words 'hi power armour should be able to take it' ;)

Ran into this same situation in the game I'm running.

As Fabian says, the Narthicium lets you treat anybody with TBx3 as lightly wounded, in addition to Fate points healing D10. The first few games I ran in Final Sanction we did critical damage incorrectly and were using the FS Genestealers, so the Kill Team managed to do fairly well.

I'm now running with the Emperor Protects Genestealers. With 4 attacks getting surprised by one doesn't usually end well for a Marine, as our two Devestators found out. The Apothecary using her(well his of course) Narthicium in conjunction with them spending a few Fate Points allowed them to continue.
