Quachil Uttaus

By Krawhitham, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

I have just had a fun evening against Quachil Uttaus in which every investigator was turned to dust.

I do have a question concerning the Dust decks however: Does the first player token get passed if the first player spends 2 clue tokens to avoid drawing a dust card?

No, FP token remains until that investigator turns to dust or players win.

Actually the way the power is worded I would go the other way on this. Spending 2 clue tokens prevents you from drawing from the dust deck and it is the dust cards that instruct you to not pass the first player token "this turn". So no dust card = no instructions to not pass the token.

OK I take that back, there is a clarification about this in the Innsmouth rule book. Why they decided to put an important piece of info like that there and not on his sheet, especially when it could have been accomplished with adding the clause "and keeps the first player token this turn" to the statement "spend 2 clue tokens", is beyond me.

So to put it simply, there is simply no mechanic that allows the first player token to be passed during Quachil Uttaus games?

Seems a little...harsh. Even if it was something of a much higher cost than 2 clue tokens it would still be something ...

I guess these are the occupational hazards of fighting Ancient Creature's from Other Worlds.

Just don't win Rock-paper-scissors at the beginning that puts you at first player ;-)

Besides, when was the last time AOs were known for their fairness?
