Our group's ship

By Cavgunner, in Rogue Trader

Hi all, first post here. Our group is about 6 sessions into our campaign. We completed both introductory missions and are about 1/4 of the way through Lure of the Expanse.

The group's ship is called the Emperor's Bounty. Yes, I know that was the name of one of the ships in the starter missions. But that was the name the group came up with on their own. The Bounty is a Dauntless-class light cruiser worth 72 ship points, which was slightly over the players' allotment, but they took a slight drawback or two to make up for that.

Overall this ship has proven to be a very flexible vessel. Powerful in combat, quick to maneuver, and between the sensors and the Ancient and Wise characteristic, it is very hard indeed to get the drop on this ship. Given its strength in combat it is still fairly well optimized for Trade and Exploration, as well as having numerous other useful features. No teleportarium, but the murder-servitors still serve as an ace card when all else fails.

Is there a question tied to this post, or are you just sharing? :)

Just sharing! I'm sure there is a "post your ship here" thread somewhere but I didn't see it right off the bat.

One of the better ship configurations for a Rogue Trader there, IMO. My own players had pretty much the same setup for their ship, the Aesteban's Folly . Just a different set of supplemental components and Blasphemous Tendencies instead of Ancient and Wise (it was decided a Heretek splinter-sect of the Mechanicus had originally built it, thus the Blasphemous Archeotech theme).

The Macrobattery Broadsides + Lances have proven to be a very effective combination. Generally the players will get the enemy into a broadside arc, then stack as many To Hit modifiers as they can on the gunner with suplemetal actions. Macrobatteries to take the shields down then the Lances with better than even chance of two hits and a critical.

Interesting - for once someone who get a Reliquary of Mars and Murder Servitors, but no Teleportarium for your Archeotech. How is that bridge working out for you?

Well, considering that the +10 bonus to Social and Command tests can apply to numerous situations as long as the characters are on the bridge, I'd say it's been pretty indispensable. The +5 bonus to manueverability also more than makes up for having the extra armor, which is really nice.

As for the Murder Servitors, the Explorers haven't used them in ship to ship combat yet, but they *have* used them as a stand-in for ground troops, since they only have 3 gun-cutters at the moment. They've only used them once so far, but in that battle, 60 Murder-Servitors laid into a Zaythian mechanized infantry company in close quarters. The results were... terrifying.
