Ok, this is a dumb question, but it's been nagging me since I got the base game set. What are the tokens with the lore masters' (and monster) symbols on them used for? Not the ones for the Lore council, but the ones that are the same size as the Lore tokens. For some reason i can't find out what they are for!
Unknown tokens in base game?
Not a dumb question at all. Currently there is no official use for those tokens, but they are good for house rules and custom abilities, etc. Future expansions (campaign, rpg elements, ???) may use them.
I use them to distinguish units related to that Lore Master. For example, the "King's Allies" specialist card allows you to add I figure per level to that unit. Since it is associated with the Warrior, I place the Warrior token with this unit. That way, if I ever used the Heal card, I would know how many figures I could recover.
I assume there will be more obvious uses later on - perhaps to represent your Lore Masters actually on the field of battle.
Hi there,
you put them underneath your Lore master council member to denote its level ( none underneath means lore Loremaster is Level 1, 1 underneath means its Level 2 etc)

You are thinking of the larger council tokens. The smaller ones have no official use.
see that what happens when you post when under the influence of the flu...
hmm they must be there for a reason, hmm lets see if we can make one up!

Is that the Influenza Influence?
i think their use is to mark a unit effected by a lore card (any card that gives plus one die or movement). while not really needed for small games perhaps in epic games they are worth it?

That's what we have used them for in our games. Good for marking homebrew heroes and special units too.
I think the use is to promote conversation on the forum, so the designers can nick the best idea and say that was the plan all along!
You've got to admit, it's a good plan.
Elberon, hope you get over the flu fast.

Toddrew is right on this one. I remember we got an response from days of wonder, either from Eric or Richard stating that there wasn't any official use for them for the moment, they suggested we could use them in our own custom adventures though. I tried finding the exact post yesterday, but without any luck.
I think when I used one of the Lore Cards, Hide in the Shadow or something like that, in my last game, I use the small rogue token (green face mask) to mark the affected unit.
One idea that I've been thinking about is to use those tokens attached to units to mark their location on board. When that unit's defeated, your lore master or commander is gone, omitting any advantage they grant. On the good side, a unit with lore master attached to it will have certain advantage (extra die for the warrior, extra movement for the rogue, etc).

I happened to come across the explanation about the extra tokens in the base set, but it turns out it wasn't a post from DOW, it was in the adventures booklet at the end of page 3. Problem is, it wasn't about the small lore master tokens, it was concerning the Goblinoid and Dwarves blazons;
''The single Goblinoid and Iron Dwarves blazons provided in your game are included solely for your enjoyment in designing (and playing!) future adventures with Goblinoid or Dwarven-specific victory objectives''
But I'm guessing the small Lore Master tokens were intended for the same use...
One thing has just leapt into my head for these,
*** designing custom adventures,
*** Heroes picking up treasures and bonuses on the battlefield (paraphrased from Mr Borg's post about up coming releases).
I wonder, get your hero onto a marker and collect the booty. Could be official scenarios or make your own (placement: one player chooses the row the other the column....) If it isn't in Heroes that'll be the next home brew I work on....

I would start there. I had my dice replaced by DoW, but aside from a shinier and longer lasting lore symbol I couldn't tell the difference between the originals and the replacements - both faded. Finding a good protective coating is what I suggest. Which one? I don't know
The dice protection I use mostly is playing on Vassal

Citadel Paints' "Purity Seal".
Two coats as soon as I got my set of dice.
Still going strong after 50+ games
