Talisman tips

By frogemoth, in Talisman

I think it would be a good idea to share our tips when we play Talisman.

For us we always have a hard time remembering who is supposed to miss a turn, but we found a simple way to keep track of that easily. When a player miss his next turn we simply put his figurine down, that way it is very easy to know who is missing a turn. When his missing turn comes up, the player simply put his figurine up.

Another tip we use is when we draw the card that states that we must draw dungeon cards for the next 3 turns, we simply put the card on top of the adventure deck to remind us that we must take dungeon cards instead, we also put the card number toward the person who draw the card so that we remember who draw this card and when it will finish.

Share your tips!

My gf never remembers her spells so I have gotten into the habit of saying "end of your turn" and "beginning of my turn" and pausing if she has any spells.

We also remind each other to roll death.

She also never remembers to draw an extra card when she has the Fiend Slayer.

Yeah we always forget to move death, but we change it so that we move death before we do our turn. Easier this way to not forget.

We use the small black plastic character-card-holders from Talisman 2:ed to put some special cards standing up so they wont be missed/forgotten.

Mainly the Sentinels and Cereberus (blocking the way), and when there is a effect that lasts several rounds. For 2 rounds we keep the card standing up the first round, and standing on it's side the second round.

Like the OP we also put the characters on their side when missing a turn, just raising them again when it's their turn to move.

I like that idea about using stands for cards which bar your way... Nice one!

When my friends and I draw any card that has effects over multiple turns we place coins (loose change, not gold counters!) equal to that number.

For example, if somebody draws the Blizzard event (which lasts 3 turns) then the blizzard card is placed in front of their play area with 3 coins on top of it. every time that player begins his turn he discards one of the coins. It becomes this player's responsibility to remind everyone else that the card is still in effect.

I find it helps keep track of how many turns have been, which in games with several people where there's plenty of back-and-forth play between actual turns (through attacks, spells, death encounters, etc) can be massively useful.

This also works well for players who've been toadified; when a player becomes a toad they place 3 coins on top of their (toad) Player sheet, and once again, remove one each time their turn begins.

Yes, that's a good one I have never thought/heard of before.

I got some nice cheap card stands online. I use them for the abovementioned purpose, and also to create a "hand" of spell cards in front of me. Otherwise, if I don't see my spells (out of sight, out of mind), I forget to use them. I've also got some Pit Fiend miniatures which help me to remember how many I've killed.

We use a die, instead of coins lengua.gif

Wow. that's so obvious. *throws coins into corner of room as a mark of disgust*

Well, that's what tip threads are all about. I will henceforth adopt your superior method :D

[smacks forehead] And for someone who uses custom or plain dice for so many things, I should've seen that as well.
