Control Check Modification

By Lazy Lantern, in UFS Rules Q & A

Hey yall I'm back and better than ever

Quick question:
***Nightmare Geese***

R Commit 2 foundations: Before a player makes a control check, add the top card of that player's deck to their momentum. If that player has 2 or more momentum, instead of checking the top card of their deck, that player reveals a random card in their momentum. The control check is equal to 8 minus the control value of the revealed card (minimum 0).

Destiny's static text

After your opponent plays an ability that gives one of your control checks a penalty, cancel that ability's effects.

is Geese's ability considered a modification to the controll check.

I say yes because it modifies the control check you should have made. On the other hand, I say no because it never does specify in the effect that it "Modifies" the control check.

No. The card defines the control check.

Destiny does not trigger because there is no penalty to the check.
