Language dependency

By faith_star83, in A Game of Thrones: The Board Game (1st Edition)

Hi,

I saw the AGOT boardgame (german edition) the other day in a boardgame shop when I went to visit my parents. I am currently living abroad and would like to buy the game and take it back home to play with my friends overseas. Unfortunately, almost none of them speak German so it will take a lot of the fun if they cannot understand most of the game once I explained it to them.

Does anybody think it is possible to play the German version of this game without all of the players knowing German? Will there be a lot of explaining / translating involved?

I did consider buying the English version, but it seems sold out wherever I looked.

Thank you for your help!

if you found the text from the cards then it would not be a problem, and the rules, but i think they are on this site some where

Right, I can relate.

I can't think of any other cards than the event cards flipped and resolved at the beginning of every round that actually include text. And those are somewhat short. So even if you only had a "cheat sheet" will all the translations you'd be fine. Alternatively, you can "produce" your own cards to replace the ones with German on them. (For this you can use http://www.artscow.com/photo-gifts/playing-cards/playing-cards-54-designs-313 )

Thank you very much!

I guess if it is only one event card at the beginnning of the round, it is no problem for me to translate them!

But what about the rule books? I've just bought the German edition of all three games as the english versions are out of print & so expensive. I don't want to type all three rule-sets into Google translate. I've looked but I can't find anywhere on this site that states whether, or where I can get the english versions. HELP
