threat for encounters in RtL

By bogman, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Howdy,

One threat per hero, per turn, right? Does the OL get threat for heroes that have fled or been killed during that encounter? For example, if all but one hero has fled the encounter, does the OL only get one threat per turn (plus those reaped from rolling surges)?

thanks!

pfd

just to be clear, I'm talking about outdoor encounters...

The manual does not say one threat per hero in the dungeon/encounter, it states one threat per hero. I would take that to mean per hero period.

That is my take on it anyways, Hope that helps.

Thats the way I play it. It is a little odd, since RtL is only for 4 heroes, so they really should have just said "4 Threat per turn" and be done with it.

Yup... I always wondered about that myself. In RTL, the OL gets 1 threat/hero/turn = 4 in Dungeons AND in Outdoor Encounters

This is a constant and it doesn't matter if one or more heroes are in town or have left the encounter

We play it the other way:

OL only gets threat per hero on the board (alive and kicking).

Is the hero not on the board no longer a hero?

You are adding rules - "on the board (alive and kicking)" is not part of the rules.

No problem doing this as a house-rule, but it is not RAW.

You must be on a mission or something. The holy justification of the RAW or something, I dont know... You post so much in this forum (content and text wise) that I get the impression you are hired by the spirit of the rules itself to spread the world of the RAW to every corner in the galaxy.

I didnt claim RAW compliance anywhere. Its just a statement that there are actually people (like me) doing it the other way.

As long as there arent any tourney with thousands of $$$ to win (like M:TG or smiliar) we will never have a bulletproof RAW and a balanced game, cause there is no market value for spending the ressources to do so. The rules are flawed from the start to the end. Anyway, if its your mission to convince people that RAW is the holy grail, please feel free to continue ;) Its not like I m not participating in discussions about RAW rules ;) Yet, I dont quote statements of ppl over and over and tell them that they are not playing by the RAW. Most of them know it. You should only go in "missionary-mode" if someone tries to spread false truth and claims to play by the RAW.

(No offense meant, just pointing out that I didnt claim any RAW compatibility in my post)

None taken. None intended by me either.

If a poster asks "what houserules do people have to play this?' then answering with non-RAW is fine.
But if a poster asks a rules question, then replying with your house-rule without stating that it is a house-rule is just confusing, both for the OP and for any other nubes with the same question who read it. Adding 'we play it this way' is not clear enough to alleviate that confusion IMO.

Oh, and BTW, the volume of my posting is an expression of 'love this game' combined with boredom at work and internet access at work. gran_risa.gif No 'mission'.

When you are doing dungeon even when one of the here is killed by OL he is alive again at the start of his turn so there are always 4 heroes alive when OL starts his turn and he collect 4 treat tokens. In outdoor encounter killed hero stays killed so OL at the start od his own turn has 3 heroes and he gets 3 treat tokens then. Thats why there is writen that OL recieve 1 treat token per hero at the start of his turn because it depends if this is gungeon or out door encounter.

So if a hero is back in town during a dungeon when it's the OL's turn he only gets 3 threat?
