The Terror On Southland Drive (An Arkham Horror Tale)

By TheManchild, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Recently, I lost the box lid to my copy of Arkham Horror, along with the manual. It's a silly, ridiculous story, and the non-fictional tale is mostly filled with rage and confusion. I was going to my friends house to play the game with them, but when I got there, they were not answering, so in a frenzied fit, I stormed back to my car, left the darn thingon the roof, and drove off.

Somehow, the air pressure sucked just the top of the box off, with everything else but the manual intact. It's the strangest thing that ever happened to me. I plan to contribute here more regularly. I play a number of Fantasy Flight games besides this, like Descent and Dust. But I thought I would share my story with fellow Arkham fans, and introduce myself here.

For fans of Lovecraft, I turned it into an exaggerated short story partially emulating that style. I thought I'd share it. If this is against the rules or something, please let me know.

I did the same thing, with a few differences:

I left it on the roof of my car, but not in a fit of frustration, just because I'm an idiot. And the whole thing fell off. On a highway after 5 minutes of driving. And when I got to a place I could U-turn, it was all over the place...

Thankfully, Christmas was literally right around the corner, and my parents needed another idea for what to get me, anyway gran_risa.gif

Why would you put a boardgame on your car.

No, seriously.

I had too many other things (blankets, pillows, a bag with my clothes, a toiletry bag, my computer bag, and probably a bag with some chips/drinks in it). That was in addition to Arkham which I carried out at the same time ^_^ So I put it on top of my car while I put everything else in.

And then, like I said, I'm an idiot and forgot I left Arkham up top...

I put my copy on the car because it was freezing out, and I thought I would try calling my friends from inside the car where it was warm.

I had every intention of getting back out of the car anyways, but after calling them with no response, I got frustrated and simply drove away instead, forgetting I had put it there.

Not one of my finer moments, I might add, but it made for a big laugh with everyone. Not as much of one with me of course...

Oh well, those are sad tales indeed... One of the reasons my games never leave my place, haha.
