Next Chapter Pack - When?

By lahomen, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

Has FFG given us any clues on when to expect the next Chapter Pack?

Somewhere roughly in the realm of "the future."

But don't hold them to it. That might be underestimated.

there are 2 chapter packs as well as the queen of dragons expansion listed as on the boat. We all know how slow that boat is plus not sure if they are all on the same boat.

i'd imagine, that by sometime in april we will have all 3.

I think that the issue at hand right now is that if the cards are made in China, which I think they are due to the Chinese New Year messing up production, then that means "the boat" is needing to go through Japan's customs before it gets to us.

The original rumors of delay predicted early april for the next pack. Considering they were right about the delay I'd say it is likely they are right about the eventual release timeframe.

Sounds about right for anything related to Song of Fire and Ice. Why don't I have a copy of Dance with Dragons yet? gui%C3%B1o.gif

Haha, my point exactly!

Can we all agree to form a line to hand GRRM and FFG all our money as soon as they will take it?

I've heard of a slow boat TO China, just never a slow boat FROM China

~I am not sure if anyone reminds FFG that Chinese New Year is an annual occurance. gui%C3%B1o.gif This is probably the 3rd year I have heard that...

The boat doesn't set out until it's filled with stock. So if less is ordered (the board and card game industry is still winding down), it takes longer for it to even set off. FFG has no control over when it leaves dock. Its why the shipping is so cheap.

Hmmm...I was the banker for a gaming company that brought in product from China, and this wasn't an issue. I also banked three flooring (carpet/tile) companies and a toy company that imported as well off the top of my head. They were never short of inventory no matter what the time of year - they probably would go out of business if they did.

It doesn't take much to fill a container with product and thousands and thousands of boats leave China every day for the US. They didn't have an issue with Chinese New Year when they planned accordingly.

But, who knows. Seems anti-winner to be able to say 'a one-week holiday ruined all our release plans' for multiple years *shrug*

I'm just having mental images now of shipping containers filled with new chapter packs and Targ boxes. *Homer Simpson drool*

I'm pretty sure that a fewweeks back, when they announced that Secrets of Oldtown would be delayed, that it has to do with printing errors that were caught and had to be corrected, in conjuntion with the Chinese New Year affecting their printer's workload. I suspect this pack will be available mid-to-late April. If they were smart, they'd have it out prior to the HBO series premiere, so that if someone hears about the game doing a web search they can go to a local store and find it on the shelf already.

The reprint of Kings of the Sea is expected to arrive in April, but I have not seen an expected release date from FFG for Queen of Dragons, so I would be inclined to think this will be a June or even July release. At the very least, it should be available before (and legal for) Gen Con in August.

I'd be suprised if QoD released that late, it has been a long time since the last house expansion and generally the large expansions arrive within 3 months of the announcement. I wouldn't be suprised if it releases late April/early May, I doubt KotS will have any effect on its release date.

I certainly hope we can see both deluxe expansion boxes by April.
*fingers crossed*

Gates of the Citadel had a status update and is now shipping . Hope we see it soon, I'm starved for new cards. :)

I was hoping it would be out today.

We hope to have it in next week. Some friends "all around the world" told me probably in wedneday tehy will send me the scans. As soon as I have them I will publish and inform you.

A solicitation email I got from FFG today said that Secrets has a distributor release date of the 12th, and that both Greyjoy and Targ should be shipped to distributors late this month. So I stand corrected about when I though QoD would release - which is a good thing!

And considering that I am hosting a tournament next weekend, I already let my players know that Secrets will not be legal for next weekends events, though I intend to have it in stock.

great news also related to greyjoy 3x release. Lots of new players in italy are waiting this release to buy "the kraken"

I heard that should be in this week.

I am in China.

Gates of Citadel.

~Personally, I always try to buy and sell things I don't already have, sort of like "Energy Futures." It worked out for Enron, right? Or perhaps they are modeling themselves on Hillary Clinton, whose shrewd business ability netted her a huge profit on cattle futures...
