For those on BGG, AH is currently losing to Carcassonne in the annual Geek Madness. I love Carcassonne but this is the farthest AK has made it and I really want it to go as far as it can, being my favorite co-op and one of my topmost games of all time. It is so close and just needs more votes in the next two days to push it to the next round. So head over to the link below and thumb the post please!
Board Game Geek Madness - AH losing to Carcassonne

AH, like WotR, willlose, leaving no games I would even want to try (AH and WotR being the only two games I've played).
I did my duty and voted for AH.
I am sorry, though. It really makes me sad when I see geekdom and the hobby gaming crowd voting for things like Carcassonne over Arkham Horror. WTF. I grew up with gaming in the '80s and stuff like that never would have happened back in the day. I mean really?!? Placing 'meeples' over killing monsters and saving the world!?!? Posers....
Enough rant.
Only 28 votes behind now. Come on now, VOTE
!

I like a lot of games and love a few. Carc and AH are on the short list. WotR, not so much, so you can look down on me for that too.
On the flip side, it is good to see FFG have 3 titles this far at the same time. I don't recall a time that ever happened before. Next year should eb good for it to as quite a few of the rookies were FFG titles this year.

I knew of your dislike for WotR. IIRC, and a bit ironically some might say, I believe you mention the rules being too difficult?

The difference is shrinking. Only 13 behind now ![]()
Only 6 behind now. We're breathing down their necks and they can see us in the rearview mirror... ![]()

No, not the rules being too difficult. From the read of the rules (which I have read multiple times like any other ruleset), I thought I would like the game. I just found the game play to be unintuitive. Neither my wife or I enjoyed it. I will admit it has been a long time since I have played it so I may very well try again in the near future (part of the problem being table space in my old small house with even smaller table). So maybe someday I shake my hatred for this game I wanted so much to love.
Arkham's in the lead now
524-522 in Arkhams favour.
let's not talk down on caracassonne, it's a great game. I play it with my 3yo son sometimes, puts the random element right in the game. It's not even close to arkham horror though, and to claim that it would be better, even if doing so only by having a larger audience.. outrageous!
Outrageous? Nah. More like just your opinion
I say, go Arkham or go home!
AH had a solid lead of 40 votes, but Carc. is getting closer hour by hour now
Carc. is only 18 votes behind now...
We lurk at night. Carcossone's are in the day. Wonder what that says about the voters...
Arkham Horror is a few votes behind (5 votes) now, and it's only 1,5 hours before the contest is over
I hate that I already voted and can't vote more :-(

This feels like a gate burst!
Just checked the link and I can't vote. I own both Carcassonne and Arkham Horror, but if I had my druthers I'd be playing the latter much more than the former. Saving the world from unspeakable horrors is far more important than almost any other activity fit to mention on these boards.
But.. who won this competition?

Sadly my Arcane Insight in the first reply to this thread was correct. While Ameritrash games have gained a little ground, BGG is still hopped-up on Euros
.
Well, since AT games are generally more complex and often have unclear rules or situations, and are genre-specific, I expect them to have fewer fans overall. Honestly I'm surprised that it gave Carcassonne such a run for its money.

::SOBBING IN UTMOST DESPERATION::
(man, I do love Carcassonne, but...)

It's 10 now, which is strange because I was trying to figure out the margin to see if this race upset the current "Closest Race" slot and it was 8 when I checked a few hours after voting closed.

Gasp! Voting irregularities! I DEMAND A RECOUNT!
