Weird. I've noticed on many of the recent posts, including mine, that the words a-n-d & o-r, along with the adjacent spaces, are getting deleted.
Just thought I'd flag this for the moderator's attention. You've a bug that needs fixing.

Curiously, it works fine when you edit your post and insert those missing words retroactively. I recommend perhaps saving your text on notepad and then just copypaste everything when you edit the original post.

Forget about fixing the bugs in this forum. I'd suggest implementing a different forum software. For example, there is phpBB which, while not the best forum software around, is still better than this and completely free.
Transfering existing posts over might be tricky, but given how often the same topics repeat themselves here, I doubt there are many old threads that people would want kept. So starting with an empty forum won't hurt, especially if read-only archives of this one remain.

We could switch back to the old forum ...
I don't believe any change is going to happen, though. The company paid for a forum software specifically tweaked to their ideas (such as incorporating this point system) and now they're gonna use it. I'm just wondering if it came with any kind of guarantee ...

They had something worse ?
Ouch.
Aww come on, it wasn't that bad. At least you didn't have these weird bugs.
And you could have custom avatars. <3

The latest (and most plausible) theory I've heard is that the words are being filtered out by a script that's trying to prevent SQL injection attacks. The script only runs on the initial publication, as do all the other forum scripts. Since it's just replacing text on an edit I guess it doesn't need the filter, which also means it won't remove anything the second time.
Assuming you don't have too many interlaced quotes, you could just copy the body of your post before publishing and then re-paste it in an edit, keeping any quoted material at the top.

This is the third incarnation of the FFG forums, by my count. Also the prettiest, although I personal preferred the previous one (which may well have been phpBB, I don't remember.) You could cut and paste without a pop up box and the quote tags used usernames so it was easy peasy to respond to multiple posters at once.
