I think that the scale of this game makes it difficult to play online. If someone is attempting it I would be interested also.
Nimon, why do you think the scale should be an impediment and why should it be difficult to play online?

Well of the games I have done online, DW and DH, a single melee between two 5 man groups can take two days. If I was a RT invading a world with a private army, I can only imagine how long that will take via a message board.
Message board? The cool kids are playing via IRC.
Must be nice.... lucky dog.
I don't know about it taking two days. When a single shot bolter cane shot hit a tango's rifle on a crit exploded his ammo and killed five of the other 7 tangos around him it ended part of that combat pretty quick.
Really, 2 day combat is an issue? I have been playing PBP of 3 or 4 years now and have been running them for almost as long. If your ten man combat is a 2 day event, sweet it runs pretty fast. Try something like D&D or Pathfinder online with a 7 man group and 8 or 9 foes and compare the time.
I am new here and to both the setting and system and would be intrested as well. Seems very hard to find a RT game, mores the pity.

I, on the other hand, fully believe that RT actually lends itself quite well to online play - PbP included. The fact the players have free rein and they're powerful characters and the PF/Acquisition mechanics allow them to operate semi-independently for short spans of time...
Large periods of narrative time typically present during warp transit and perhaps during endeavours allows everybody to have plenty screen time with input from others not being a requirement.
Correct me if I have misconstrued something here, but of all the three (ah, sorry, four-to-be), RT is the most suited game to do as PbP.

Sunday however is my game day. Thanks for the info however.
The campaign I am running is online (The one I post up to the forum), using maptool and skype.
Using the internet can be difficult at first but after a while everyone gets use to the comm discipline needed to keep the game going and it allows for the gm to use some awesome maps and pictures. Another thing that you need is a gm who will keep the game moving and a set of mature players that know when to shut up
The best thing is that it allows you to play with friends that live in different parts of the country or world.
I also play face to face games and I actually think that playing online can be better in certain circumstances as it stops all the little things that distract and slow down players in face to face games.

How do the 'cool kids' handle gamers across 8 time zones on a consistent basis?

That said, one could of course also schedule a game for the weekend - then people just have to find a time when everybody is awake, either just before or just after sleep.
Keep in mind that luckers are also welcomed; but some new blood for the RT gang would be good; they are..not the hands-on grew if you cach my drift.
All of my players are from the UK so its not a problem, I played a WFRP game with some of our friends from across the pond and meeting up to play was sometimes a pain but you can work around it with some effort.
never really liked play by post, got lost in the plot half the time. prefer human contact, ventrillo or teamspeak preferable if done online.
really hard to find a local game. people play, just not at the local store. i have a post looking for ppl.
running a game please let me know if you are interested running it on irc and let me know when you want to play
I've been looking for an online game for a while, Rogue Trader, Deathwatch, or Dark Heresy (in order of preference). I think the problem is that you have to be pretty lucky to find a group just starting a game, because I've never had good luck joining a longer-running game; it's hard to just fit in with a longer-running game.
If anyone's looking for a new player for an online game, though, I am certainly open to trying. I've never actually played any of the 40K RPGs, though I own them all, but I've been gaming for almost 20 years, and my evenings tend to be pretty free.
I'm very tempted but my schedule is filling up alarmingly fast. I may drop in an app but I'm about to go fishing for a few days, so if it's open on monday i'll fill your void. Double Entendres make me happy.
Trying to find some people to round out my Thursday game. 8:30 pm EST on maptools, rank 5 exp 18,300. Email me at [email protected] for more info if interested.
Actually just trying to find players to start one
Hey Cyphus, I'd be interested in hearing a little more if you're still looking for people.
I may have said this in a different forum, but Nerdbound and PBP house regularly start new games in the 40k universe.
