Laughing Tree, I've actually looked into coming to Kublacon this year. But so far I haven't found tickets I can afford, and I'm having trouble turning my credit card points into airline miles. I need to call them and see what is up.

Have you tried using Priceline negotiator where you name your maximum price?

Last year I was able to get round trip from San Francisco to Honolulu for only $240 (its usually around $500 or so) using Priceline negotiator over the span of a few days in a row and not budging on my 250 maximum. You would probably have to be open as far as times go and maybe have a lay-over but I've had good luck with good ole Will Shatner. Would be great to see you out in Cali =D

What's your nearest airport Dobbler? I will become your personal travel agent and find you a deal if it means you'll come out to CA and Thrones with us.

I called my CC points company, and come to find out that I don't really get "airline miles", I get points that can be used on stuff (I normally get gift cards). It is possibly for me to get tickets through my CC, but they admitted that they can't match the discount companies.

So anyways Syd, if you have the time to help, I would potentially be looking at flying out of Springfield, MO or Kansas City, MO or St. Louis, MO. Springfield is by far the most convenient, but it is also the most expensive in all my experiences.

Also, I am considering going to the regional in Tennessee which is the same weekend, but much of that is dependent on other members of my meta being willing to make the 700 mile drive with me. As of right now I've had no takers. So if I can get cheap tickets to Kublacon, that seems like a realistic option.

Leaving Thursday night late, I see a few at $310.

Bing is 90% sure rates are rising, so the quicker the better.

Leaving from where? And where is Kublacon? Would I fly into LAX?

I just did a quick Bing search (since you get all the travel folks at once). Two different ones had you flying out of KC at 7.47pm Thursday (I have a room that night, Jesse will be getting in at Midnight as well) into SFO - which the con is RIGHT next to. Hit me via Facebook if you want links...

The DC Regional is at a new game store that's just a 5min walk from my house. I've been interested in playing this game for awhile, and I think the regional tournament being in my back door is what I need to push me into the game.

Question for the vets: I know based on theme I would want to play either Stark or Targaryen. Is there a place to find a list of cards for these houses by chapter packs so I would know which ones I want to buy?

Thanks

Do a search for "AGOT Dabbler" and you will find a resource for cards. There are other sites as well, but that's the one I use the most.

Also, welcome to the game! Hope you enjoy it as much as I have over the years.

Dobbler-- I found a one way from STL I think through Southwest for only 144, so if you could find another cheap one way back, that could be an option.

CardGameDB.com has spoiler list with card images sorted by chapter pack and cycle and a deckbuilder .

KUBLA!!!!! KUBLA!!!! 75% chance of attending!

Well, I'm putting in an offer on a house today, and if we end up settling on a contract, right now the closing date would be around Memorial Day weekend (after my kids get out of school) which means I would not be going to Kublacon or any other regional during that weekend.

The Stark Expansion is a HUGE boon to Stark, and the Targaryen Expansion, which is expected to help the house A LOT, is soon-to-be-released. It's still unclear whether the Targ box will go on sale in time for the DC regionals. Following FFG's estimates, it usually takes 35-52 days for a product to be in stores once it's listed as "on the boat." According to the FFG "Upcoming Products" page, the expansion was listed as "on the boat" on March 21, so it will be in stores sometime between April 25 and May 12. In addition, tourney rules usually require cards to be on sale 1-2 weeks in advance (depending on the tournament organizer) prior to the event to ensure they are available to everyone in advance.

So if Targ box hits shelves April 25, it probably would be legal for DC and other cities holding regionals the first weekend of May (though that's technically not a full 2 weeks prior to the event, I think tourney organizers would be smart to allow excited players to play with Targ box if it comes out by then). The first indicator of whether or not that will happen will be as early as April 18, which is the earliest date that FFG is scheduled to be able to ship the product to stores.

Conclusion: If you want to play Targ, cross your fingers that FFG will announce on or before April 18 that they're shipping the expansion!

Booo!!!

Although, if the house is actually NORTH of Springfield, rather than South...then that would redeem it somewhat!

Nope, the house is south of Springfield, as I want to stay in my kids' school district. However, it is 3000 sq ft and much better suited to hosting large gatherings than my current duplex.

At the moment:

99% NYC

60% DE/PA

40% DC

Only making Kubla this year but we are bringing the goblin child and she may play. Any crazy attempts at jacking up the head count this year? And are folks looking towards a possible side game of Highlander or more Cube drafting ( with optional drinking game rules:) ?

You know I'll be at KUBLA to defend my title!!! gran_risa.gif

I will be bringing my cube.

I do need some plots though! I will try to check and get those so I can get all I can.

~Chaos, you know that title is tainted.

I might be back on for Kubla! I didn't settle on an acceptable price on the home I want, so I likely won't be moving now.

So I guess I better get on those tickets eh?

Yes please on the cube draft! ~Can we watch the best of Will Ferrell too?

Kubla is shaping up to be epic!

Sadly, it looks like Jeff and I won't make it to there in time for Friday's draft. But I am bringing a Highlander deck, just for fun. And hey, newer players could make a game out if it. If I play a card you've never seen, you have to drink. This way I might stand a chance of winning something:)

But...I want to drink too! :)
