June 10-12 Regional in Springfield, Missouri

By Dobbler, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

I'll try to hop on an report tomorrow from time to time.

The weekend is off with a bang. We have 24 people for a Friday night Old School TCG Draft. I had to jet for the evening, but I'll put up reports tomorrow and try and hit you with top 8 deck list and results tomorrow night!

Wow! Kick-ass turnout... I was going to come on here and apologize for absenting myself (even though I know you all secretly rejoice in that fact)... but with that kind of player population, and an even number, I'd have hated to mess things up (unless you wanted to do 5 pods of 5).

My sincerest wishes for a great event and a strong field.

An early report has 6 Targ, 6 Greyjoy, 7 Martell, 3 Bara, 6 Lanni, and 3 Starks. 12 different agendas. If my math is correct, that's 31 players. Great turnout!

My little birds tell me Dobbler is undefeated at 4-0 running a Lanni Men with no king deck. Also Kyle (I have no idea if he has a board name or not) from Illinois is undefeated playing a Lanni deck designed by Mr. French.

I'll be posting top 8 deck lists later (super busy right now). We had 32 players total (one came in a few minutes late).

Nice job, Will! Very interesting top 8 composition. Good to see some Targ (Dragons!) and GJ doing well. And although Martell has risen to the top yet again, it's such a different deck archetype, way more rush than the control decks that have won previously.

Will and I's game was something truly Epic. Seriously, both of us had a moment where we looked like we just lost, but Will came from an 8 power deficit to win. It was one of my favorite games I've ever played.

Congrats to Will on his win over such a large field. I am curious if he is running any icon-manip, BotS, Cyvasse, Poisoned knife, etc.Glad to see Martell Brotherhood win. ~At least it isn't Martell/Summerlengua.gif.

7 Greyjoy including 3 in the top 8 to 3 Baratheon, 1 in top 8 at the last large Regional. Interesting. gui%C3%B1o.gif Congrats to John Pauly on taking the Black Sheep to the top 8.

I think after this Will can no longer claim to be a Lannister player, since both Regional wins have come with other houses.gui%C3%B1o.gif

Congrats Will! Let's hope this wasn't just because Butzlaff didn't show up... :)

I'm glad to see that Jayke got some much needed revenge against Dobbler for all the hell that we put Jayke through in the TN regional. happy.gif

Congrats Will!...and shout out to Dobbler, who was running MWNK. Even if that card is strong, running a bunch of crappy reinforcements over the normal events takes some guts :P

Yeah, decklists please. I was just interested to see that he didn't run his own agenda to offset the # of events he had to run. :)

Agreed. :) Great showing, Jayke. Hopefully TN was a test run for your deck that springboarded you to top 4 yesterday. How much did your deck change from the TN version?

Longclaw, from what I saw Jayke's changes were minimal. (We test together all the time). Very awesome display from him. He legit was 1-2, game back from that for a 3-2, then beat Greg in a rematch that he dreaded. From what I've heard Dobbler only got a total of 6 gold.

There were actually some significant changes to it. I've (unwisely) had the finished deck over at AGOTCards sitting in the published section for the last couple of weeks.

I can't stress how lucky I feel I got against Dobbler the second time around.

A quick update. Will (Kennon) won overall Champion. Kevin Parrot, who I believe was also playing a Greyjoy Holy deck, won melee. If I'm not mistaken it was also Kevin's first tournament. I will do my best to have deck lists up by Tuesday. After a weekend full of fun, I have a TON of work to catch up on.

All I can say at the moment is "It's been a long road, getting from there to here..."

I'm beat after a really great, but really long weekend. I'll certainly post further tomorrow. Also, mad props to anyone who figures out what I was quoting.

So you are Captain Archer? Does that mean that Dobbler is Kirk? I'm so confused!

Also, congrats Will! ~Its about time you stop choking! Just wish you would've done it with a decent house like Lannister!

I don't regret running MwnK at all. Even though I only stole one card all day, the events that turn into characters were great, and the way they change the challenge phase as well as being 3 STR stealthy, renown guys, I never regretted putting one into play. They really accelerated my power grab. During the swiss portion where I went 5-0, I never had a game come close to timing out.

My one loss in the joust single elim was against a Greyjoy choke deck (Nerdcore). I made a poor decision of Valar'ing on the first turn (and killing my own Carrion Bird). He then proceeded to choke the heck out of me with Winter, Burned and Pillaged, Ice Fisherman, and Support of the Kingdom and of the 5 turns we played, I counted 2, 1, 1, 1, 2 gold on each of those turns (and drew no reducers). As well Nerdcore played a great game, efficiently keeping the pressure on me so we didn't make it to the plot 7 where he would have been forced to Valar.

I chose MwNK because our meta is a heavy Brotherhood meta, as well, all the OOH Luwins being played with At the Gates gives me another target to steal. I don't regret that decision in the least.

Great job Will! "He all grows up and he all grows up".

Sigh...Dobbler keeps making decks that annoy me and 2nd guess my decks. gui%C3%B1o.gif

Sorry Dude, I had no idea you wanted text updates. I was sending out some mass texts to several people who told me to text them, I would have gladly put you on the mass text list had I known.

Congrats to Will! And thanks for the well run and wonderful venue. it was great to see/meet so many great players! We'll see you in two months! Let the mad tinkering begin...
