A cutthroat 2-player game

By ghosthack, in Android

I played my fourth game of Android with my girlfriend today. It's the second time we tried it with only two players and I can tell you it was a pretty different experience from the other times.

As we finally start to fully understand Android and its intricacies. We decided to go for a random murder this time (we had only played the Evil at the Estates murder). This time it wasn't just a murder it was a massacre : eight people dead and two investigators to sort it out.

Our randomly picked investigators were Rachel (Me) and Louis (Sara). Yes, my girlfriend's name is Sara and she was playing the troubled cop trying to regain his wife Sara.

Fate it seems was already laughing at your faces. Unknown to the other were our obsessions, mine for Sgt. Dejah Torres and Sara's by Noise. Those two weeks were going to be hell.

In the beginning, Rachel was getting good cash for her bounties and Louis was pretty much trying to get Sara back in his life and making good progress in finding out who the murderer was.

Louis found a strong alibi early on for Mark Henry. He was not the murderer. If it wasn't him then who ?

It was the calm before the storm. Rachel began unraveling Blaine's dark side, card after card. Louis did what he knew best and begun stressing out Rachel. all kinds of trauma and bad emotional baggage showed up in this clash.

This would be the turning point which made Rachel's plots end up in a not so happy way.

Rachel dabbed a little in the conspiracy, but as it would be proven at the end, this time no corporation had a hand in this massacre. It was a purely personal matter. Rachel did see the good points in digging deeper as she revealed 3 pieces of it in one sitting, allowing a hit which she unceremoniously placed on Noise.

The city was in turmoil and a revelation was about to change the city. The Martian embassy called, Thoris could only go in with irrefutable evidence (10 more guilt than any other suspect in fact) or else we would have to accuse the next guiltiest suspect.

As Rachel saw her obsession slipping through her fingers, she started to realize her only chance was to kill Noise, Louis was probably trying to frame this guy and Rachel would not let him.

Louis' life was going pretty good, and Sara (not my girlfriend) was returning to his life. Unfortunately when he tried to get to Mr. Li to save his suspect from a hit, he was immediately sent to the NAPD. His obsession was now dead and he now vented by trying to get proof to charge Vinnie (as he had bluffed in the beginning) and take the guilt off Thoris.

Louis managed to supress some of his traumas and Rachel used some of her cyberware to compensate for her traumas, but her abusive use of cyberware left her with a mere 2000$.

The investigation was now over. Vinnie would take the blame with Noise dead, Dejah Thoris had the most guilt, but only by a margin of 9 points (!!!) only a pint away from being guilty and proving Rachel's obsession right.

Tallying up the points:

Rachel (me): 20 points

Louis (Sara): 2 1 points

I called for a technical tie, but Sara was the winner...

And then... while packing up the game: a revelation ! Near Louis' space a trauma token was found. Was it there before or was it a mere misplaced token?

Did Sara win by one point or was it a tie?

The mystery would go on in New Angeles, where everything is not quite what it seems...

Variant used for 2 players: 4 suspects and possibility to change to the other player's token when "getting a jump on the case".
