mini Eldar Campaign problem

Yeah, I am.

Going first is a fight winner. It's getting in an entire round of combat before the other guy gets to do anything. So that's 3 free attacks with a powersword, and if they land, the other guy doesn't get to do a thing to you. That's *better* than unnatural Toughness.

especially considering you could probably justify giving their base wepon storm and or tearing.

Around 15 gaming sessions with Eldar as protagonist behind me. My 1st Eldar campaign is over, another one is in phase of planing right now, it will be around exarch level of strenght.

As for GMing eldar i must honestly admit that it was very good experience after leading DW games. Much more similar to Asc DH feel than cinematic super heroism of DW.

Only problems were with game mechanics but nothing that few new rules dont fix.

Can you publish your house-rules and comments on how they worked?

I'd be interested in picking your brainpan/pointy-eldar-helmet...

Couple of questions to get you started:

- Players where Aspect warriors? All of the same aspect?

- Was the Farseer ther Deus Ex Machina?

Thanks in advance,

Isidro

as for players

Dire Avenger, Howling Banshee, Dark Reaper, Swooping Hawk, Striking Scorpion, Fire Dragon, all from Biel'tan craftworld, for everyone first combat eldar path. Mission far away from any craftworld or exodite influence zone, 6 young eldars from different shrines send to unknown place with imposible mission by farseer.

Campaign concentrated on "cinematic" Eldar feeling.

As for rules, very heavy modified DW rules. (and i mean heavy modification), players can take advances mainly from their aspect shrine advance path or something like general warrior path (all possible advances but more expensive than on aspect shrine path)

one of greater changes we adopted was adding each DoS to Damage in melee. (so melee characters could have any chance with heavy infantry like terminators, obliberators or even "mundane" chaos marines). also all eldar have as base 2 reactions (with another parry & dodge as advances)

Isidro if u want i can translate and organise all those materials and sent them to u. (translate will take some time thou)

I'd love to see it published, what language are you translating it from?

Isidro

hehe its mix of russian (my national language) and polish (language of country i now live and all my players come from).

Anyway i almost finished with translation to en.

I always thought wh40K universe to be very influenced by the eastern block during the cold-war. Is this true or does it show only an westerner views of the eastern block?

Sorry about the Real-world question, but I had to ask :)

And thx for the effort!

Isidro

answer is really easy.

creators of wh40k universe wanted dark, gothic, unforgiving and hopeless feel of their world, and its not hard to point on witch side of "iron curtain" propaganda they were raised and lived, what in turn greatly influenced all negative "imperial" traits of wh40k world. That was: Fear of Soviet Union. As portrayed in western propaganda: inhuman meat grinder system where some dumb politicians send millions to their death just becouse they can do it and poor civilians rot from starvation in gulags. (u should get my point now, same fear mechanism work in star wars) Sound Familiar ?

On other hand, most of my young years i was bombarded how spoiled, rotten, corrupted, unmoral and dumb west is, how moronised, cowardly, mostly drunk or drugged, lice eaten rapist their soldiers are, how tyranny of the rich kills freedom of working class... Etc... Etc...

So when i portrait Imperium in my games is more like mix of Western and Eastern cold war propaganda about "empire of Evil". It works miracles to put fear into players. Still its just using fear factor buried deep within players mind, fear of evil learned as child.

supose that is answer.

I used some of the ideas here to make my own ruleset for a game that I run via PbP. I already have posted a link, but here's another, to the Resources page of my forum.

Hope it helps stir up some brainwaves.
