Cylon super crisis card resolution

By Furey, in Battlestar Galactica

Well, we hit an interesting problem yesterday with a super crisis card.

The card in question is the super crisis skill check (24) that allows the cylon player to activate the entire cylon fleet. The simple question is, in what order do you activate each capability? In order to restore some order to our game, I chose to activate them in order, as written on the card but this was not to my advantage. I would have preferred to launch raiders and then activate raiders, thereby getting a chance to move the raiders.

So, which way is correct? In order as written on the card or in any order required by the cylon player. I have checked the FAQ and the rules and am unable to find anything on it but I suspect that is because normally, only one ability is ever used.

Many thanks

IMO things are done in the order they're written on the cards unless they say otherwise. The standard english left-to-right rules should apply most of the time because there are specific cases where a choice is allowed and those are spelled out in the rulebook.

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it.

But, time to play devil's advocate, I have to ask FFG for the clarification. This is purely to ensure that this is not left to interpretation. How we interpret the rules is not open to debate, they are the rules after all. But, when the rules do not cover certain actions, generally the FAQ picks up the missing bits. As neither the rules or the FAQ can clarify the correct course of action, individual interpretation becomes the norm. I am hoping to avoid this.

So, FFG, can you answer my question at all?

Many thanks

FFG's policy is to not answer questions on the boards. They have a separate question link for that. Unfortunately, their policy also seems to be to rarely answer questions through that link. Let us know if you hear back from them. :)

Really? I've never once failed to have a question answered, usually quite promptly, and I must've asked more than a dozen by now.

As to the OP's question, I'm pretty sure that the rule for this is actually in the rulebook, but I don't have one in front of me at the moment and don't have time to search through the PDF here. The icons are resolved in order from left to right, as I recall.

Maybe it's just the team on Descent: Journeys in the Dark that has a bad history when it comes to answering questions. I've never tried asking one for BSG.

Ah, gotcha. I've only ever asked questions about BSG and Chaos in the Old World.

Yeah, p. 22

(that rule is given under the Cylon Attack Cards heading, so if one wanted to get real nitpicky, one could argue that it doesn't necessarily apply to skill check crises, but I think it's fair to assume that it generalizes)

Not that it is worth much without a link, but the question has been answered by FFGposted on this board. As I recall it was related to Cylon Fleet issues. The answer was, left to right, fully resolving each icon (with Cylon Fleet, some cards basically guarantee a fleet return).
