I have been trying since the rotation of block one to build another awesome Blanka deck, but have not been able to do so. I decided with the release of the new Blanka promo to try again. So what do you think? Am I getting close?

No.

I don't want to sound mean, but no, I can't see this deck doing well. Half of your attacks don't match symbols with the other half of your attacks, 16 of your attacks are 2 checks, and your foundation base is... weird...

I'm assuming that you're just trying to make it block 2 legal while still block 2, so here's my suggestion, just go solid fire attacks with a chaos/fire foundation base.

Attacks:
- 4x Demonic Drubbing
- 4x Seichu Nidan Tsuki
- 4x Tsuji Hyate
- 4x Fatal Disruptor

+ 4x Mark of the Beast (makes use of momentum)
+ 4x Clones
+ 4x Widow Maker

Actions:
+4x Kung-Fu Training

Foundations:
- 4x Darkhunter of the Night
- 4x Powerful Style
- 4x Tenacious
- 4x Soichi Jinmu
- 4x Kanzukiryu Kakutojutsu

+4x Commitment to Excellence 2/6 +1L (Chaos/Fire)
+4x Pieces of Eight 4/4 +2H (Chaos)
+4x God of Muay Thai 2/4/4 (Chaos/Fire)
+4x Quest for Vengeance 2/5 +1M (Chaos/Fire)

Assets:
+3x Olcadan's Mentoring 0/6 +0L (Infinity)

you drop a lot of bad checks, you can dual symbol much better off of your foundations, and you have less 2 check attacks and can Hammer/Kung-Fu training all of them. maybe test out a little bit more and see what you have problems with, then go searching for what can possibly help you. Also, if you're having problems with olcadan's in your meta, just go with a solid fire deck, knock out Pieces of Eight and Soul of Ling-Sheng Su for Blinding Rage and Makai High Noble.

Where did you get 16? Only 8 are 2 checks. Seichu and Melancholic. The only problem I see with some of your suggestions is that alot of them are block 2. I wanted to make this as close to block 3 as possible. Sorry I should have mentioned that. Also I was trying to use Blanka's first ability so I could easily pull off multiples, unless you don't think that is going to wrk.

no it could work easily. It was my mistake I thought Tsuji Hayate was Tsurane Kiri for whatever silly reason.

if you want to make it block 3, then I would suggest chaos or death/fire. The main problem with block 3 is with the exception of melencholic, there aren't that many good multiples in his symbols. Absurd Strength is not block 3, neither is Seichu. And if you get rid of the two of those, the only fire attack (and card you would be playing on your attack turn) you have left is melencholic and isn't good enough to make it just a fire deck. Look into getting either Hozanto's and Neo Raging Storms. Both can abuse Blanka's momentum gain with their big powerful abilitys. And try to figure out what you want to do with your foundation base so that on your turn you're not stuck playing only 2 foundations because of symbol spread.

Seichu and Absurd are only in there because until set rotation they are really huge staples. The only reason Melancholic is in there is because it is a back up if I don't get Seichu in my hand. Yeah I am deffintly going to change this to a powerful deck once set rotation happens.

I am playing this deck tomorrow, so is there anything else I should do? Any quick fixes?

So I played this deck last Monday and Won one of my two rounds. The second round the deck won no problem, but the first round I lost on my oppents third turn with a very fast New Balrog aggro deck, My deck didn't stand a very good chance. Is there anything I can do to this deck to protect myself from something like this again? Maybe something that would make my deck run just about as fast?

The deck seems like it could be great. It just seems to be missing something. Any suggestion?

Still looking for ideas

I played the old version of this deck today and took first place, but alass it is time for Block 3. This is the new build of the deck. Thoughts?

When the new promo Blanka first came out, a lot of folks immediately decided that he was the poster child for Spinning Beat. Combined with Lord of the Makai, I think he has enough momentum generation to fuel a kill turn that is completely off-symbol.

If you're running a predominantly Chaos build, you can use British Subject to splash Fire without worrying too much about cards that bridge both symbols (I'm thinking Bitter Rivals and/or No Memories). This deck is just begging for Savage Fighter...

Yeah I used to have this deck based around multiples, which had Savage Fighter in it, but now I have changed it to be based around powerful. Do you still think I need Savage Fighter.

With a 7 HS, you can still conceivably use Savage Fighter. (Obviously, multiples make this significantly easier) Without card draw/recursion, however, there are probably better cards to put in those slots, because it is less reliable, and it doesn't sport a block.

I'm assuming this is an aggro hybrid deck. For Blanka, Counter the Assault is probably a better fit than They Bigger They Are..., and if you don't have access to Lord of the Makai, it's definitely easier to obtain. Destiny wreaks havoc on Blood Runs True/Forethought, and can generate momentum off an opponent's 6 check. Oral Dead and Red Lotus of the Sun provide protection against Olcadan's and whatever else your opponent is trying to use to pin down cards in your staging area.

Chaos is neat, because it boasts several CC Hax, and Destiny- the best defense against these shenanagins. If you can acquire Forethought and The Anti K', you can potentially ruin your opponent's turns early in the game, thereby creating a huge board advantage, or stretch them thin enough to create an opening.

If building on a budget, Destiny is, at the very least, sideboard material. The Anti K' is easy to acquire, and Oral Dead shouldn't be too difficult or costly.

I hope some of this is useful.

If I haven't put you off with my post in your Bison thread, at one point I was considering building Promo Blanka and have some ideas to throw around again.

Go for it, I really don't mind.

Well, I'm pretty sure that we're both talking about Blanka::, the new promo. (Don't want any misconceptions like with Bison, just wanting to make things clear ;P)

I love Death as a symbol, but I feel that Blanka:: has better tools in Chaos.

Now, I'm not going to go into as many possible paths this time like I did with Bison, simply because I feel your build is more along the lines of what I had originally thought of. Now, onto the actual deck discussion:

Blanka:: is more or less used for his momentum generation, and you have already quite a few cards that use this ability quite well. (Flattery makes the world go 'round, right? ;P) The way I see it right now, what happens if they can stop your Fire Kick or Knee Gatling's Powerful ability? Now your kill condition has been hosed. So, how do we solve this problem? The way I tend to build decks now-a-days is to pick a main kill condition (Fire Kick) and try to fit in a few subsidiary kill conditions that don't outright clash with the deck.

For this deck, I had an attack line-up that consisted of:

  • Fire Kick (main kill card)
  • Beast Hurricane (why not use this card in Blanka? As a Reversal, Blanka can just make it sick)
  • I was looking at a good 4/3 Chaos attack, and had originally planned on using Flying Edge, but if you play Fire Kick first and play its Powerful ability, you now have no momentum to beef up Flying Edge. I had been considering Ankipo. It's a fairly cheap attack sitting at 3 difficulty/3control. It also sports a nice 4 speed. The 2 damage? Yeah, we'll be pumping that sucker up. Also, though it may not matter much, if you play Ankipo as a block, you can hose your opponent's momentum using its static ability that, after Ankipo has been played as a block, after your opponent plays a card, they discard one of their momentum.
  • Mega Spike (Yet again, I will suggest this attack. Not only is it cheap, but it will function similarly to Personal Style)

Now, let's just say that you'll humor me with an attack base of Fire Kick, Beast Hurricane, Ankipo, and Mega Spike. Ankipo and Mega Spike on their own seem pretty pathetic. So now we'll try to find a way to make them more lethal, BUT we also want to make sure that what we use can also be applied to the other attacks so that we have more coverage and uses.

At this point, we have our attack base set out and we're trying to supplement it in a way to make it more threatening. In what ways can we accomplish this feat?

  • Commitment to Excellence can pump all of your attacks. It sports a spread of 2/6 (THIS IS DELICIOUS!) and shares both Chaos and Fire (OH! OH!) It will help with chaining, damage output, building turns, and control checks (YESH!)
  • I mention previously that we were going to use Ankipo and Mega Spike in a similar fashion to Personal Style. Savage Fighter is the card that we will use. Savage Fighter will help make that Ankipo/Mega Spike more potent, after your opponent has blocked your (hopefully Powerful) Fire Kick and Beast Hurricanes and is either running low or has no blocks.

Our kill condition, secondary kill conditions, and supplements to the kill has been mapped out. Now we need to make sure that our opponent doesn't mess with our kill turn.

  • Lesser of Many Evils, sporting both Chaos and Death (for chaining purposes), can help stop those nasty Response abilities. The deck as we have it (and as it will be) runs few Responses, so this card is less detrimental to us. Now you can stop your opponent's Blood Runs True/other control check hacking cards, as well as preventing Reversals to mess with your kill turn.

Now, you're probably thinking to yourself, "Oh boy! I've got my kill condition(s) and ways to keep the kill from being interrupted!!" (Okay...probably not, but I needed an new transition ;_ ;) How do we protect our staging area from the likes of [Order] commiting effects and cards such as Ira-Spinta that will remove your more useful foundations.

  • The Red Lotus of the Sun will be our main protection for our staging area. It will foil committal effects and effects that try to remove cards from your staging area.
  • Oral Dead (Yes, Oral Dead. I like Oral Dead better than Instant Success. Deal with it!) can be used to stop Forms, especially Olcadan's Mentoring. I'd rather outright stop Olcadan's Mentoring for a turn, rather than blow it up, only to have the opponent screw with my kill turn next turn.
  • Manifest Destiny can either be used offensively or defensively, depending on the situation. I've been hearing that this card may not be all that and a bag of chips as Megalomania was back in the first two blocks, but with the cards that you're running (referring to the previously mentioned cards for "this" decklist), you have quite a few of the "bigger" symbols covered.

7 hand sizers are great, right? Well, yeah, they have great card advantage over lesser hand sizers, but they also have less bulk. 20 vitality is kind of squishy, wouldn't you agree? A few cards dedicated to your survival might not be that bad, right?

  • Tira's Contract just feels like it should be in a Blanka:: deck. Using his form, you should almost always have at least a few momentum (hopefully). Now you don't need to be so worried about blocks in your hand, plus, you can use Tira's Contract to block, and then throw out a Beast Hurricane as a reversal, and it only costs one card from your hand!
  • Adopted is a disgusting card. I've played against it, and most of the time it's down right dirty. Blanka::, again, should always have some momentum floating around, why not turn it into free vitality gain? Is your opponent going to pass that control check regardless of what they check? Here, let them have a few more points to that check, since you're such a nice guy. :)

And this point is about where the epic tale of epicness drops off. These cards are about as far as I got into building Blanka:: before I kind of wandered off to another deck idea. The deck is almost finished, it just needs a few more cards (I think). Anyway, go ahead and refute this post as well. ;)

I really liked your suggestions for this deck mainly the attacks and the damage pumps. Tira's is a deff. for this deck now that I think about it. Adopted was already in this deck to go along with 100 years (it is the same strategy I have been doing for my Disney Vega deck that everybody hates.)

I don'tknow what some people were saying but i defo thinkbeast hurricane should stay in awesome card love it. also you thought of making it a punch deck i tried it the idea works i just didnt put the time in to perfecting it.

I had some major problems with this deck yesterday. So I made some adjustments and was wondering if it looked better.
