Some newbie questions

By sinful246, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

First of all: fantastic game and fantastic support/extra's through the community... I will definitely buy some expansions. Rules are sometimes shady and therefore a few questions. Sorry if someone already asked them and answers are on the forum.

1) Block friendly units LOS?

2) Can monsters open doors (starting in a revealed area) and pass them? All of them? I can imagine skeletons do, but spiders? E.g. spawned in a previously visited area.

3) My heroes wanted to sell 2 daggers (worth 25 coins, and half is 12,5) at once. They arguied; 2 x 12,5 --> we get 25. While I assumed; each dagger at a time; half and round down = 0.

Who is correctly? Do you calculate all items together and take half/round down. Or item per item take half/round down?

1) There are two different uses for Line of Sight, and each has its own rules unfortunately, This is one situation where there is a difference. Friendly units block LoS for the purposes of attacking, but not for the purposes of Overlord monster spawning.

2) IIRC, only Master monsters can open doors, and even then, only not rune-locked doors. This has rarely come up in our group, as we find the expenditure of movement to re-close the door to not be worth it.

3) It's not specified in the rules, so you could do it either way. My group has always done it like your heroes were arguing. And really, it's 25 gold. not like that's going to make a huge difference.

All figure block line of sight when attacking whether they are friend or foe. No hero or monster figure blocks line of sight for spawning.

Monster figures can open and close regular doors at will provided they do not lead to an unrevealed area. Named monsters may even do this with rune-locked doors as per the FAQ.

We've always done this by selling each item individually and if the value is less than $50 then you don't get anything. Rajamic is correct in that the rules are vague on the exact mechanics of the store transaction and that a$25 difference is negligible either way.
