Battlefleet Koronus

By deinol, in Rogue Trader

The news says "Available Now". Who has a copy? Does it have cool stuff? Convince me I should buy it. ;)

I just ordered it, **** shame that it came out on a Friday, now I have to wait until after the weekend to get it in the mail.

All right: Buy it! ;-)

In my opinion, this book is the most important expansion for Rogue Trader, because it is about the maybe most essential thing of the game: Starships.

I'd argue that the characters are more important than the ship. The ship takes as big or as small a role as the group wants.

Still, I got my copy on Wednesday (it was released in the UK on Tuesday), and it's awesome, the art is brilliant as always!

Seeing as it'll be detailing planetside warfare, too, is there any new equipment in there on the personal scale?

I didn't wanted to say that the ships are more important than the characters, of course. I just wanted to express that starships are the unique feature of Rogue Trader. If you want to tell your friends why to play Rogue Trader, I think the first thing you'll tell them about RT is that they'll have the control about starships and will be cruising through the galaxy.

Starships should 'be' one of the characters. Don't just think of it as a magical 'it got us here' thingy.

Battlefleet Koronus is the single most important book for RT released to date IMO. If you have Battlefleet Koronus and Into the Storm, the game finally becomes what we were promised when the teasers for the RT core rulebook were coming out prior to release. I'd been underwhelmed by the core rulebook after all the hype, and this has pretty much everything which I'd expected from it but found lacking.

My only real complaint about the book is that it didn't come out sooner. There's just so much that I'd have done differently in my campaign with the greater diversity of ships now possible.

Amazon has cancelled pre-orders for Battlefleet Koronus and appearently will not be carrying it.

I saw that and was dissapointed but barnes and noble has it for the same price online for an april 12 arrival

Give them a bit, they may put it back up under a different entry than what it was preordered under (seen it happen many times before with Amazon preorders).

Got my copy of BFK back on Wednesday from my FLGS in Olympia, WA.

Actually, now that I think about it, I'm not as active with Rogue Trader as I am with the other games. I'm more likely to play Deathwatch or Imperial Guard (DH). So what sort of info do they have on ground assaults? How detailed is the info on the Imperial Navy?

I've never seen a successful preorder for an FFG book from Amazon. They always cancel the order and recreate the entry. This happens every single time.

Amazon has pulled a fast one:

If you pre-ordered BattleFleet Koronus at $25.28

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1589947991

and had it canceled, it is now

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1616610719

and a pre order of $30. Make sure to point the price guarantee out when you call them.

Edit: this post does not mean that I'm gonna start posting regularly here again, bu this was the sort of thing the community deserves to know.

I got it, it has the usual excellent production values, but in my opinion it trys to tackle a bit too much in 144 pages and misses a few things needed to flesh out the ideas it presents. e.g gives more rules for unit warfare but could do with a list of example unit stats. Also battleships are mentioned alot but I can't seem to find any stats for them. Don't get me wrong there's enough there to put it all to together yourself , but I can't help thinking given the diversity of the topics and the fact they each needed new rules (apart from the navy background section, which is really good) it could have done with being a 240 pg book and $10 more.Although I always want more book when it comes to FF!

Does anyone know if it's available on the shelves in Orc's Nest London today (Saturday 19/03), if I was to pop in this afternoon?

(Last time we had one of these threads I made a trip there and the book in question wasn't yet in stock.)

I seem to recall Orc's Nest had a pretty decent site you could find out from, but in all honesty the last time I checked it was the release of the DH core...

I ordered it from FRP Games and it arrived on Friday. They're out in California (I'm in NY)

I had a friend pick me up a copy yesterday, he's bringing it down to me today. He tells me it does it's core job of providing ships pretty well, and is 'essential' in that respect, but he was a little dissapointed with the stuff on naval ranks etc (which are he says rather bland RN terms by and large), and that it's a bit light on specific fluff (regarding the history of BFK), which is a shame imo if true.

Any new 'vehicles' such as Thunderhawks or maybe new 'tanks'? Or new weaponries for Aerial/Ground Vehicles? happy.gif

Any new character options, background packages, career ranks, origins?

Nope, because that's not what the book is designed for.

Telosse, Look to Rites of Battle from Deathwatch game for vehicles .... mega info there. The Astartes stuff is there.

Shame, afterall, a book about the Battlefleet Koronus could have had room for information about and rules for making characters with backgrounds in Battlefleet Koronus. But oh well, there was a origin for it (or similar) in Into the Storm and a Battlefleet Calixis origin in The Inquisitor's Handbook .

I will jot it down in my list of personally perceived missed opportunities by FFG.

You really are hard to please, aren't you Peacekeeper?

Anyway, it's almost a shame this book is out now, right at the time when I have literally no money to spare at all ...
