Reckless Dice and all things Like.... Ep. 5 online now!

By The Strolling Bones, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

Hey community!

Just posting this thread to let everybody know that the 5th episode of the Reckless Dice Podcast is up on the website ( http://recklessdice.rorschach.net/ ). We touch on Omens of War and our hopes and speculations on what that supplement will contain (our timing was slightly off as FFG released the Fighting Styles info the day after we recorded demonio.gif ). We also cover Skills and Talents and all the options that they offer. And in the main topic we discuss the three pillars of Roleplaying and how to utilize them to create exciting and varied adventures and characters.

It's been a blast getting to talk with others about my favorite RPG and I really have to thank both Paul and Jesse for the opportunity to be involved. They have a great thing going with this podcast and we should all get out and support them. They are big fans of feedback and constructive criticism so leave comments on the site or follow them on @RecklessDice via Twitter. Also if you are an iTunes user leave a rating and review via the tools provided.

Finally we are on the look out for people who are keen to help start a stable of GM's and Players to play remotely via Skype and Maptools. Many of the adventures are planned for recording purposes and Jesse has been recording several of the early sessions. If anybody is interested head on over to the Reckless Dice website and leave your information. This is a great opportunity to gather lovers of Warhammer Fantasy together, and its a great outlet for those of us who don't have access to great local gaming groups.

In order to participate we require you to have the following ~

MapTools

Skype w/ good audio connection

The Players Guide at least

And a friendly attitude.

Thanks folks and may Grandfather Nurgle let you rest in ease!

Yes, listened to almost everything. A great episode so far. :)

Got an idea for a future episode: Maybe you should tell us a bit more about maptools, like how much time a GM needs to prepare a maptools adventure, what to thinkt about when doing it and so on. It might inspire more online groups for people that have no group close by.

Keep this podcast going. Entertaining and informative.

Thanks,

Kevin.

Ya man, we have that lined up for the near future. We will certainly hit up MapTools as a main topic.

We wanted to give a foundation to the podcast before going off and pimping MapTools as a way to play remotely. We are certainly close though.

I'd love to record a few tutorial sessions at some point too, teaching folks how to use the interface and the ruleset i made for WFRP3.

Its not super confusign stuff, but it does require a little bit of familiarization on the GM and player part.

P.S. Im currently working on The Edge of Night MapTools adventure. Its about 40% complete so far and looking real nice. More details to come, I'll probably release it in the next week or so.

I'd love to play that adventure via maptools, especially since I haven't read through it yet. I heard that the next thing up TGS, and even though I'd like to play that too I allready been a GM for it so if I had to choose I'd pick TEoN. So are you going to GM it for Reckless Dice or are you just designing the adventure for maptools or just releasing it for others to use?

Well i plan to release it just cuz i have fun making them for others to use. After The Gathering Storm, we will likely run TEoN, Hugeldal, or Winds of Magic, however i do not know if i will be running it or one of our other Reckless GMs. Possibly The Strolling Bones.

Here is the current roster of adventures and MapTools files:

  • A Day Late, A Shiling Short (DONE)
  • An Eye for an Eye (DONE)
  • Journey to Blackfire Pass (DONE)
  • The Gathering Storm (DONE)
  • Winds of Magic (DONE)
  • The Edge of Night (IN DEVELOPMENT)
  • Horror at Hugeldal (AFTER TEoN)
  • The Witch's Song (AFTER HORROR)
  • Omens of War Adventure (AFTER WITCH)

That's great work you'r doing! I've got a player that might move away, and a player that allready have moved so with these adventures I'll set up an online gaming group after this summer. That would be kind of cool. The adventure in Liber Fanatica VII is great too, you should consider creating a MapTools file for that too (or maybe I should start trying to learn MapTools and create one).

Finished listening to the episode and just liked to add a few tings: You forgott to mention the "best" of all the basic cards that "non-combat" characters can contribute with in combat: Guarded position! An easy roll and you've helped all allies in the engagement by adding one or two black dice to all attacks against them (improved guarded position is just crazy good by the way). Also, just as more experienced players can "teach" the players to use cards the GM can inspire the players to start using cards. I let a tavern brawler use guarded position to help his two fellow thugs out and well, my players just "What? TWO extra black dice on all our attacks?". Then they started using it. ;)

Great episode. :) Keep it up!
