Wondering what to do with all this stuff!!??

By Toxicjedi, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hello out there, i am a huge fan of this game, the sadest thing is i have never actually played a game due to no one i know has interest,...time for some new friends LOL!

Ok so having said that, i recently finished aquiring all the Descent expansions in true completist fashion...so my question is to all of you. dD you mix all your expansions together or do you keep everything completely seperate? i know its quest driven, but as far as the overlord cards , skill cards , item cards etc...is it ok to mix with any quest or does this unbalance anything.

So if i am running an altar of despair quest should i only use the base game cards with only the Altar of Despair additions?

sorry for my bannana sandwich way of writing, this is truely a delema for me.Any advice would be great..Thanks

our group has all expansions as well and we put them all in together.

cards from each expansion have markers on them for easy removal later if you dont want them in the decks, and it is fun to have the full compliment of treats for the heros to test their skill.

We keep everything together, except the components for the Advanced Campaigns, which are separated in their respective boxes. (I haven't played an AC game since I got SoB, but in theory we will combine the dungeon cards at least. Not sure there's anything else that really mixes.)

As far as balance, I think it's fine as long as you're using everything from a given expansion, and not just certain parts. Maybe not everything will make an appearance every game, but as long as the potential is there, it's fine.

Good to know! I just picked this game up myself and am greatly looking forward to playing with some friends. =) Got a demo in at PAX East this year and I was %100 sold from the get go! Fantastic game!

Definitely keep the Advanced Campaign stuff separate, except for possibly the 10-wound tokens, which can be useful to have around for the tank PCs and some of the bosses (particularly in later expansions, where it's not unheard of for a boss to have 40+ wounds).

You can definitely combine the Dungeon Decks and the Rumor Decks with just the following exception:

If you're playing RtL, remove the 2 rumor cards referring to "map pieces" and the rumor card with Unknown prize, since both are bound to SoB and make absolutely no sense in RtL. Except for those, all Rumors can be mixed freely. If you're playing SoB on the other hand, I believe you can leave all Rumors in the deck without problems.

Good to know about the rumour decks. I knew there were some that gave map peices but I hadn't stopped to count how many.

I'm not entirely sure either...never played SoB still, so Rumors I don't use for RtL are benched since dawn of time. Anyway, evn if the rumors were there, you just needed to have the heroes redraw the rumor if it was one of the aforementioned. Actually I never removed the Healings from the treasure decks. I just know they must be redrawn any time they pop-up...
