HBO's Game of Thrones

By Karazax, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

The Making of Game of Thrones 25 minute feature that aired this past Wednesday on HBO is now online. It has a good mix of clips seen in the other videos as well as new material like clips with Shagga, Osha, and good look at the interior of the Eyrie, and Jon and Tyrion's first sight of the Wall coming from Winterfell.

I have seen several rumors that most of the US cable and dish providers will be having a free HBO weekend next week to give as many viewers as possible a chance to catch the premier and hopefully get hooked. They did a similar promotion with the premiere of Boardwalk Empires.

Love the Making of video. Just alittle over a week to go!

Thanks for posting these links.

I watched the first 15 minutes of Epi1 and the 25 min making of documentary feature and I am sooo amped to watch this. I wish I was media so I could get the first 6 episodes hehe! It looks absolutely awesome, I love the work on The Wall, it looks exactly as I imagined it, even better details even

I haven't watched ANY of the spoilers in quite some time. ~I want it to be special, like my first time...um...never mind.

Anyways, I ordered HBO only for this, and told them that much.

On top of that, I am having a mini-party at my house - everyone is invited if you happen to be in rural Nebraska that night! gui%C3%B1o.gif

Ya know Kennon brought this up in the latest Champs and a Chump podcast and like Dobbler I don't get it. You've read the books (multiple times) so ya I will watch any spoiler ASAP :)

~ He doesn't want to be disappointed yet in the difference in quality of the ladies between his imagination and hbo.

Speaking of which, I wonder about the actress playing Sansa. Will she be able to handle some of the more stronger scenes in the later books? I know some of it they can use movie magic to get around... but no matter how much magic they use, people will view her as "Sansa", and Sansa doesn't have a generally good reputation. (Imagine going to High School and your classmates having seen your body double's breasts on TV?)

It is different though. Just like when I open packs but have seen spoilers, it just doesn't have the same zing. I am excited for the book being put into life, not excited about 'what happens next?'.

I feel the same way. I haven't watched the 15 minute preview to experience the pilot as a whole.

A bit of a tangent, but has anyone heard whether HBO Go (the online HBO viewing) will play Game of Thrones? Given they previewed it there, I suspect they will, but I'm just wondering if anyone has seen anything definitive. I looked around but didn't happen to come across anything one way or the other.

Thanks!

I'm with dobbler and quite a few others. I have skipped as many of the previews as I could - although i knwo the Plot i wnat teh viewing experience to be as engaging as possible. If i have seen whole chunks of it, it won't feel the same.

Wall Street Journal had a recent online article mentioning that HBO has plans to make some episodes available on HBO Go even before they are aired.

Someone misquoted our podcast. Zeiler is the one who has avoided the previews. I've watched each one a few times, plus I've seen the 14 minute premier twice.

Adding a pointless post so the thread will mark as read. It's driving me nuts when it bugs out like that.

I want a card that says "Discard FFG rookery and pay 2 gold to reveal a new forum"

Ah I thought it was Kennon who avoided the previews myself, thanks for clearing that up. LIke you Dobbler, I have watched the previews multiple times. For me it wont "take away" from the initial viewing experience at all. cheers=)

I respect both points of view. I'm just too impatient to wait myself. But looking forward to discussing the premiere next week! Most of the early critic's reviews have been great.

Oh My god - the NY times review is calling GoT "the spiritual heir to the Spranos". Something HBO has been looking for forever. If all the reviews are this good and the show becomes trendy - this could be HUGE.

I am beyond excitement with anticipation for this.

season 2 Battle of Blackwater I'm intrigued

I'd be happier it was the "spiritual heir to The Wire " (the greatest show ever on television. But I'll take any good reviews!

There is a really cool HBO viewer's Guide online now, including the first official map of Essos. You can zoom in like google maps and there is info on different locations. There is also a guide to the houses as they exist in the show:

That show was amazing. Well done HBO, bravo. Was so good I am watching it twice in a row now.

Same here. Freaking incredible. They are bastards for ending it when they did though.

Fantastic. The show was great and the sets were just beyond belief. Really gave it the right feel. I am looking forward to the rest. And the next couple seasons. And yes, utter bastards, and yet it worked so well.
